Quick way to leave or travel between memories?
Is the only way to leave a memory to keep following corpses until you somehow get one that shows the door that leads out and/or are transported back?

Also, you can bookmark memories in the book, but is tehre a way to "fast travel" into them to relive them?

This seems like a great game, but I keep being frustrated in the navigation aspect and not really understanding some things like why the screen suddenly turns dark and blurry or why the door back to reality only appears in certain memories. It feels like a game where you want to be exploring the same things in different ways or with more knowledge, but it's really hard to get between or keep track of things.

This has been mentioned a few times now and back in the day (like, 2014 or something :D) I was also in the club of "memory fast travel" and "ending memories prematurely with button presses" etc.

Here's Lucas' response to that:

Basically, he decided against it for "world building reasons". Whether you agree or not, he thought about it and it's his choice to make. :)

Fair enough, that's fine.

A related issue is information overload. I was going through stuff in The Doom and haven't even finished with that and suddenly I'm at The Escape somehow where it keeps whisking me between these corpses. I want to be able to go back and study each memory, especially if I get some new piece of information that seems relevant so that I don't forget it.

Is there an easy way to deal with that?

Not really. You have to go through the corpses and I feel your pain - especially e.g. in The Calling, where half the chapter is only accessible through other corpses.

There are few instances where you have to go back directly to the memory though since the book logs the dialog, who was there etc.

As to information overload - I was also worried about it but in the end it didn't matter. I "rushed" through the game only deducing the simplest of things and then spent most of the time going through all the information I discovered along the way.

OK, I just stopped the game while I'm stuck somewhere in "Murder". Is there any way to *avoid* going through "Murder" so I can go back and spend more time with the previous chapters?

BTW, thanks for your help, Lim-Dul.

Also, the game has to guarantee that once you go into a flashback, you'll find all the corpses inside it, so later you don't have to go around searching every single flashback for missing corpses.

You don't immediately have to go into a corpse you find in a memory. Once you bring its afterimage into the present, you're free to ignore it and go to any other corpses you'd like to.

Yo can go back the the previous scenes as much as you want. And the time limits are also lifted so you can spend as much time on each scene as you want.

I don't know if this is what you mean.

Just keep in mind that there's really not much point in over-analyzing some scenes before you get the full picture. The game is very liberal when it comes to the "unblurring" of faces and in many, many cases I wouldn't rely on this mechanic to tell you when you could POTENTIALLY identify someone.

It's mainly a mechanic to make sure you don't waste time on identifying someone where there's almost no chance you would have the info to do so correctly.
