Softlocked out of Toxic Caves

I seem to have misplaced the key for the Toxic Caves and after looking through the early game world twice, can't find it. I think I gave it to Gaoh before sending him off in place of Carmen but I can't seem to find where he leaves to when he's dismissed. Is there any other way in there without the key or am I stuck entering Chapter 2 without having gone in? Also, about how screwed would I be out of points/equipment assuming I had to avoid it?

Gao should either go to Ricardo's bar or Junk fort. If you really can't find it, you can go through the scumlands (the quest is designed as a fork, so you either go through the caves, or through the scumlands)

If you dismiss Gao, he does go straight to Pohcutla unlike the other companions. You can still progress going through the Scumlands instead of the Toxic Caves, or you can cheat and spawn a key. F2, then type "make=key1" then type "name=Toxic Caves Key"

I'll make Gao automatically drop the important keys before you dismiss him.

Just fixed the scripts so that Gao now drops the two important keys before he takes off. If you need help spawning another key in your save with the world editor, lemme know.

This is a stupid question but how do I actually type "make key" and such into the prompt if pressing K repeats the last entered command? I've tried copy-pasting the command but it didn't seem to work.

In the f2 editor, type "make=key1" (then that item should appear before you and be selected) Then while it is selected, type "name=Toxic Caves Key"
