Enforcer is fun once you get to guns that mark on hit.
Juggernaut is fine, i like her.
Cant argue about Aegis.
My least favorite is Archon, his Shield-buff is cool and all, but if you take him from the get go, hes more annyoing than anything else, until later on.
need to unlock more progenies to make a final judgement tho.
She has a rifle, sword, and implant so you can go for +damage with all three, pushing her up to ludicrous levels.
She starts with Bladeshot, which is a quick attack with decent stagger and damage, and Backstab which hits pretty hard and has nice armour damage. Later on, you get to unlock Jagged Slash that does monstrous amounts of damage, especially if you're itemised for it. In most RPGs it pays to specialise rather be a jack of all trades and the Spectre is superb at damage dealing.
Aegis: Amazing tank and stagger. From Guard, Aoe Guard, Free action shield recharge (fury cost), Stagger effects.
Nodo? Saboteur: Amazing disrupter (disruptor, gawd both show incorrect spelling). Great stagger, good damage, has a stun, can debuff (on his great stagger). This is a role of which one acts by hindering actions. Basically a troll, i guess. Job is to slap food out of peoples hands, and puts a cherry on top by saying "That is how we get ants".
This has been my fav Team so far. Team Scoundrel (i call it). IMO: Bounty Hunter, Pirate, Scoundrel (just what i see them as). I then pick try to pick up a support hero, but Aegis kind of does that decent.
I'm still unlocking people.
A lot of games just don't get how frustrating and OVERPOWERED crowd control moves are. That they should NOT NOT NOT be throwing on every damn character This game gets its so right, imo. There are few heroes with stuns and, imo, they are a key role in forming a group. You should have one. Also, in general, a stun is single target and takes an action.
If you want to see games do crowd control effects WRONG then play Activsion-Blizzard games. Mostly towards Heroes of the Storm (MOBA). That game is a mess of unbalance tho. Some heroes have like 3 hard CC moves(interruptions).
I just won my first play through with Aegis, Valkyri, Saboteur, Empath, and someone else I don't remember. My second run I started with Paragon, Marksmen and Saboteur...
I definitely like my first lineup a lot more. Personally the best single move in the game is Blitz. The rest of his kit is pointless since it's rarely used but he's a must have IMO.
Now that my current run has no defence I'm definitely missing Aegis. And as far as overall variety of attacks that are useful - Valk is the way to go.
Dont let the Aegis bias fool you, Paragon is the best tank of the game. The only thing that pulls him down is his sucky early levels. He will be your go to AOE breaker and damage dealer when most threats are gone. Freeing Sabo to do TNT work. Unlocking the Fist slot (10s stagger + Damage) and the sword slot (10s stagger 10%armor 10%shield) which in my opinion are the best items for those slots (tried everything else but it sucked far too much). Also his major downside is how expensive he is to level up. I usually end runs with him at level 6 to 8 maximum.
When i just wanna relax i play Paragon, Commando, Sabo. Its smooth sailing. Usually end the run adding a Marksman/Enforcer and Valk/Varangian. I loathe Spectre and Gunslinger both are too squishy and does far less damage than Marksman/Enforcer.
I'm not such a fan of the empath theres a few cool things you can do with her but shes just pretty boring in general
I've only won twice so far, but both times I had the marksman, and also the enforcer. Damage is at a premium, you cant get by by trying to weather the storm.
The saboteur is up there with the best classes in the game. Stagger is key, and he does incredible stagger, and has okay damage as well.
There is really nobody that I have tried so far that is total garbage, with the exception maybe of the archon, and he can be somewhat useful late game. The juggernaut underwhelmed me compared to the aegis, but I'm sure she can be a great tank in some parties.
I've yet to give the valkyrie and paragon enough of a run to see if they shine, I only played with the valkyrie once, on my first run, got to the third world, died, and haven't had the opportunity to try her again
The empath seems weak, but is actually unbelievable with shield generating items, and has ways to manipulate time that come in clutch.
Basically, everyone is great, and I look forward to playing with all characters and alternates :D
Archon, sab, commando, jugg, aegis are examples of classes that can do their job effectively at lvls 1-3 and can sit there for quite a while.
I agree that the Gunslinger is garbage, but the Spectre is one of the hardest hitting characters in the game.
Had commando, enforcer, paragon from start and empath 4th and marksmen 5th
- So for me empath with shield heal +30 party equipment is a must have in each playthrough (but can be obtained as 4th or 5th character)
- commando and saboteur should be in the party from the beginning, if one of them aint available swap for other fast stagger char or fast high damage char.
- And I guess the paragon is such a chalenge in the beginning but so worth it in the end.
Sorry about that mate. My negative bias towards her it was because everytime i picked her i had to abandon the runs because she glitched on her attacks and no amount of game reboots fixed that. But today i just managed to finish a run with her starting with Paragon and Aegis alongside and it was super smooth run. I had the worst luck for items but she still managed to kick butts and chew bubblegum with lvl 6 weapons and a lvl 8 implant. Ended the run with Para, Aegis, Spectre, Varangian and Archon. Mid to late world 3 fights were a joke. Spectre and Varangian were ending normal fights at turn 1.
High damage, good stagger on Blade Shot, can hit back line and even break armor and can stealth to avoid damage/heal a bit of shield. She's very versatile and then you can give her gear to specialize in whatever you're missing in your team.
Gunslinger:
Free marking on Contract increasing everyone's crit damage, can stagger back line if needed, faster action bonus for raising relationship with her, High damage and her Sheva progeny gets Breakdown instead of Echoes which does good damage with decent armor break and delay. Pair her with another high damage character and watch them melt bosses.
I just wish they would replace her Device slot for an Implant one, implants synergize better with her skill set.
While I don't think there's any character that's bad my least favorite is probably Aegis. I hate her basic attack skill, it's often better to not use it because of it's low stagger. She also can't really break armor unlike pretty much every other frontline characters. She's just too defensive for my taste.
Also it's pretty lame that she doesn't get anything at level 10...
Really makes your team defenses stronger!
That said, I don't like the Varangian or Empath at all. I don't know what they're supposed to be good at, but they feel pretty useless in my runs. Neither of them seem to offer much stagger, provide anywhere near as much support or defense as the Aegis, or do damage that could even be considered comparable with the Marksman, Commando, or Enforcer.
I want to use them, but I know if I pick them, I'm more likely than not going to have a very short run. Most of the time I can't even beat the first behemoth with one or either of them in my party.
