Currently, the go-to party for any difficulty is Aegis, Empath and Spectre.
In Entropy V, mitigating damage with regeneration is impossible on early Planets. So this party focuses on one-turn-kills.

  • Empath's Inspire gives a free action to a target ally. The more important part is, that any Power that Inspired ally uses instantly executes.

  • Empath can also buff a target ally with Stimulate, making them hit harder and move faster.

  • So Empath can stack Inspire and Stimulate on your damage-dealer to make them even more lethal, enabling one-turn-kills.

  • Spectre is the currently the best damage-dealer thanks to her output and versatility.

  • She has wide range of high-damage attacks for single-outs and crowd-control. However, they are slow to execute. That's why you pair her with Empath to guarantee Crits and instant wipes.

  • In theory, you can replace Spectre with another Renegade suited for damage. However, she is flexible enough to defuse certain tricky scenarios on her own.

  • First, her Bladeshot has a high delay (35s) and is fast to execute, so if needed she can reliably break and also stun the target. Stealth Mode helps Aegis, as she can only guard a single ally at start. Stealth Mode is a decent work-around when starting without a stagger-specialist. She can actually take a hit when you compare her to Marksman Tark who's literally made out of glass. And finally, her attacks aren't hard-countered by Armor.

  • Empath cannot regenerate meaningful Shields at low levels. That's why you bring Aegis as your final member, since she can regen Shields, guard Empath while Spectre is Stealthed, and absorb large amounts of damage.

-----

If we get into details, I chose Aegis Teris with Guardian Perk, Empath Dinah with Shaman, and Spectre Aralah with Punisher.

  • Aegis Teris starts with 180 Shields, the highest amount of all Renegades. Can be further upgraded to 195 with Guardian Perk. She also gets Fortress faster, at Level 4.

  • Empath Dinah just for the Strength Aura at start. Buffed her Stimulate with Shaman Perk, so one-turn-kills become even more likely.

  • Spectre Aralah is my choice of preference. Admittedly, Spectre Nava's Jagged Slash does 50% more damage than Aralah's End Times (75 vs 50). But everything else about End Times is better. End Times can target Back Line, is surprisngly fast to execute (for a Flurry), breaks Armor (for a Flurry), and is slightly better at stacking DoTs.

  • Most importantly, Aralah learns Unstoppable faster than Nava, at Level 6 instead of 8. This is crucial for stomping Planet 3 as soon as you arrive, especially when you generally skip Officers in Entropy V and lose out DNAs as a result.

  • While Spectre Vega has Jagged Slash and learns Unstoppable at Level 6 too, her Stealth Mode is a different variant and doesn't make Powers Instant. Since the starting party lacks a stagger-specialist, sometimes you really need the original Stealth Mode for Instant attacks. That's why I'm using Spectre Aralah.

  • I gave Spectre Punisher Perk. Straightforward damage bonus.

-----

For Gears.
I had 7 Promotions available for the run. I promoted Fury-generating Gears, since the party heavily relies on Fury Powers.
Note that multiple Fury bonuses do not stack. Only the strongest bonus for each Renegade is active.

I recommend Defiler, Biorifle, Willbreaker Implant for Spectre.
Nadir and Colossus for Aegis and others.
Maelstrom and Zenith for Aegis and potential Paragon.

I started with Level 1 Defiler Sword. You really need any edge you can get for one-shot-kills.
You already cleared Entropy IV, so I think you have a good idea of what Gears you should demote.

-----

For recruits, you absolutely need either Paragon's Siphon Stab or Archon's Discharge for Instant Crit AoE Powers.
When you enter any Planet, you start with 0 Fury. This petty detail can ruin your whole run.
Paragon and Archon can instantly break the entire group for 15+ Fury, so you can follow up with Inspired + Stimulated Spectre attacks.

Not to mention they can also mess up Wraith's Void Cloak. When your Fury is low, Paragon and Archon will save you.

I speak Korean, so leave me a PM if there's anything more you want to ask. I wrote it in English for everyone's convenience.

I usually start high entropy runs with Juggernaut, Saboteur, Spectre. It's probably not as stable as starting with Empath instead but I like it better so I do it that way. I'm stubborn and always want to kill all officers and complete all extra dungeons and felt that this approach worked better for doing that on the first and second planets.

I use the base Juggernaut variant with Templar perk to get Unleash at level 4 for a instant back line targeting ability with stagger and buff removal (removes the buffs that enemies get when you break them in Entropy allowing you to break them again easier assuming they have enough stagger charges).

I use the Rhyssa Spectre variant with Punisher perk because even though she has slightly less base damage, she gains Jagged Slash at level 4, which allows you to do huge damage to broken targets without eating a stagger charge. I've found this is the most reliable way to kill all the main targets on the first planet but you do have to commit to leveling her to 4 first.

Saboteur's job is to provide most of the breaking power to set up for those big damage hits from the Spectre. I use Dalen with Disruptor perk mostly since he does the most damage, but base variant with Disruptor is also fine.

The comp has two stuns early on, a taunt right away and with good use of the taunt and stuns you can minimize a lot of the damage the group takes. You also want to make sure you get value out of the Juggernaut's leech ability on enemy Flurry attacks to keep everyone's shields up. If you choose the Templar perk for her, her shield defense is high enough after using her leech that you can come out positive on shields on weaker flurry attacks from the base soldier enemies.

Most of the ideas are similar to what HealthBar said above though, you want to kill targets fast. So you're looking to break them with Saboteur, kill them quickly with big hits from the Spectre and manage incoming damage with stuns and the Juggernaut's taunt.

Ideally you want to get the Spectre a weapon or implant with "heavy attacks remove buffs" as that will also remove the buff enemies get when you break them in Entropy that makes them resistant to future staggers. You also ideally want to get a Light Attack Reach equipment for Saboteur so he can Blitz the back row. Even without it though, the basic approach is to break a target with Blitz (which gets -33% defense from Disruptor perk) then Jagged Slash it. If you have the gear I mentioned, then the buff from being broken is removed by the Jagged Slash and you can immediately break the target again if it isn't killed in one hit.

Mainly I look for Paragon, Empath, Archon or Dragoon for recruits. Juggernaut is less fury intensive than Aegis so I don't mind the Dragoon's fury drain and Supercharged Enfeeble can be really powerful. Gunslinger, Commando, Enforcer and Varangian all can work too. I don't like pairing Juggernaut and Aegis though and Valkyrie and Marksman don't feel like they do as much as any of the other options.

You will probably want to pick up some kind of group-wide healer, if for no other reason than to remove DoTs. For instance, in this particular run the final boss was the Gunslinger with an Attacks Cause Elite Bleeding Entropy 5 perk so her instant AE attacks would put massive bleeds on everyone and the run would have been lost without an Empath, Archon or Gunslinger to clear them before the end of the turn. I've completed one Entropy 5 run with no "healer" at all (Juggernaut, Spectre, Saboteur, Paragon, Dragoon) but that comp would have died to the bleed in this case and losing like that on the last boss would be pretty demoralizing.

You are also going to want some kind of fast acting AE attack before the third planet to handle the cloaking enemies. Paragon or Achon are best for this though Empath can work in a pinch (Inspire Saboteur so he can plant and detonate explosives).

For entropy runs, I usually pick Juggernaut, Commando, and Specter. Starting with this team can kill all enemies and clear extra dungeons if you wish for more DNAs.
Focus concentrating Commando and Specter's attack in one foe, while Juggernaut defends attacks while taunting.

Though this team is vulnerable for taking damage at the first planet and early second planet, they will become much stronger when commando and specter get an combo attack. Their combo attack (maybe the name is warning shot) is a quite strong AoE attack, destroying almost every minions and probably weak adversaries. Some tanks might survive, and that's where Juggernaut and recruiter would finish them. Once you get their combo, you can just concentrate gathering fury, for using their combo every battle (it costs 30).

I choose Daimler with berserker perk as a commando that makes attack faster, required for breaking enemies. In this way, commando can help Specter finishing target with strong attacks, which is pretty useful for early game.

For Juggernaut, i just use original Aia Kur with any perks, though templar can maximize her defense ability. She can either taunt enemies which target backline allies or break (probably finish) them using unleash. Since unleash also erases buff, especially unyielding (resists staggering), it is a very good starter every turn.

Vega Tovar with punisher perk is very good for finisher or damage dealer. For big damage, I usually use Jagged slash and she learnes this move at level 4. Other progenies, including original Nova herself, attack immediately after being stealthed. However, I use specter for removing unyielding after breaking them, using equipments with removing buffs option. So not attacking immediately, with additional damage she can attack after broken enemies. Moreover, her stealth ability has shields regen, which matches with Juggernaut's leech for high entropy run.

The main battle mechanism is the same with other players' idea. Only staggering with commando is different. And during mid/late game, unleash combo attack to wipe everyone out.

For weapon and other equipments, I carry debilitator rifle which has remove buff, mark, and increase damage options. Using this can maximize your damage output for marked enemies, and also increases combo attack. And for gathering fury, fury per crit (for attackers) or + fury when hit (for Juggernaut) are good candidates. Unlike HealthBar's said, I saw that stacking fury is available by equipping fury per crit-gears. I am not sure though. I search for steal health option as well (biorifle for example). This can actually heal renegades, and do additional damage.

I search for Paragon, Archon for recruits. With right weapons and implants, they can break multiple enemies in case I don't have enough fury for combo attack. I prefer Archon, since it regenerates shields for everyone. For other member any front line renegades is okay, just to divide damage from Juggernaut. Dragoon is also good for stacking fury, but I don't like him with this team as he consumes it for stronger and faster moves.

Just beat entropy 5. Aegis really is the best tank. Just pump up her shields and she does work. I hate how bleed goes through shields but thanks to the Archon I was able to cancel out the dot damage.

The only real trouble I had was hitting the back row but increasing my AOE stagger somewhat helped with that. I got lucky in world three since I failed a lot and pushed some weaker world 1 bosses into becoming world 3 bosses. Got my 100% completion.

This is the most useful thread I've found discussing tactics that work for the highest difficulties. One thing not mentioned here are relationships. Anyone have thoughts on which relationships should be developed first? I'm in a run where I started with OP's suggestions and was able to pick up Archon as my first recruit. Since Spectre seems crucial I was just developing everyone with her.
ptirodaktill Jul 17, 2022 @ 12:20pm
Enforcer>Sniper>Spectre in terms of DD. Spectre require way too much DNA and good items to realy shine. She gets nuts when all stars allign. Enforcer destroy right from the start to finish. Out of all relationships Empath is the best girl for extra dmg. Enforcer is second best as long as you have mark item on your stagger guy.
FruitLord Jul 21, 2022 @ 6:18am
I really struggled with Aegis, Empath, Spectre. Even on lower difficulties. I like the Juggernaut, Commando, Spectre starting team because of that AoE special, but had issues protecting the payload against an Enforcer boss. I picked up Paragon and Empath.

The real issue that run was gear. I've unlocked most things(completionist in me) and it really felt like promotions and demotions meant nothing. I only saw one piece of promoted gear once and other pieces never. It really hurt my run as the Paragon couldn't get any +stagger.

In my experience on lower difficulties Enforcer and Marksman did a ton of damage from the start but Marksman was super vulnerable. Marksman is also real cheap to level up, but if he was that vulnerable on lower difficulties then how bad would it get on higher ones. I also need a way to protect the payload from AoEs. Juggernaut couldn't handle that and Empath didn't restore enough shields to guard against AoEs multiple turns in a row.

The hardest difficulty managed to be the easiest since Entropy II.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2839721110

Was very dissapointed to get Vargarian instead of Spectre after second boss, but results were just fantastic.
Full hp and shield in the final fights.
*Maybe i got lucky as my overseer was Aia Kurr, she wasn't able to break my tanks shield with AOE even when Aegis used fortress.

Starting team:
Empath - Aegis - Enforcer (take 10% damage gun as starting item)
next u want either Paragon or Archon for mass break (thanks for advice above)
next ideally u want Spectre, in my case i used Vargarian

Main tips:
- Always take shields on map when possible (every time u take shield pilon it give +10 max shields to previous amounts, last shield pilon gave my aegis +60 or 70 to max shield). You want ur Aegis have as much shield and shield defense as possible.
- Make sure every ur champ has at least 100 shield in case aegis is empty and u need to tank 1 AOE.
- Ideally u want about 50+ sec push on Archon or Paragon mass aoe stun.
- For Enforcer u want raw damage and life steal as much as possible (on the last roung my enforcer was stealing 60 hp per each flurry making it 240 hp stolen per shot with only life steal.
- Giving ur tanks +life steal items also make them more sustainable in fight. Paragon with it's flurry can keep him up all the time.
- Stagger weakness and Chill are very potent debuff (if u can break boss with only 1 shot it makes life much-much easier.

Hope it will help someone. Good luck, guys!

Majorly struggling with Entropy V. Granted I'm on console, so I'm an update behind, but Guardian + Paragon / Juggernaut + Archon carried me hard through the previous entropy levels. They suffer from low damage a lot on the first planet, but once you get a DPS for your fourth teammate they snowball and you can start using stronghold every single turn. I never really saw the appeal of Aegis since she gets fortress so late and is unimpressive unless you have significant shield regen.

The extra enemies in boss fights on Entropy V just ruin me though. Thinking I should either ditch Guardian and hope to get him later into the run, or switch out Archon for a DPS. Almost made it last run with Spectre instead of Archon but it was between Aegis, Marksman, and Dragoon for my fourth character and Marksman was the only one that wouldn't ruin my team composition (three tanks = useless, Dragoon uses too much fury if I'm relying on stronghold), but the lack of a good breaker and no regen killed the run.

Still, Guardian is obscenely strong once you get your fury generation going. Even on Entropy IV by the time I got to the third planet I was obscenely strong and just snowballed through everything after that. Only problem is surviving the first planet with either no good support, ♥♥♥♥ DPS, or a tank who can't tank. (Though his full regen between fights is incredibly useful, and with two health defense items he gets pretty tough)
