It's a very slow run and gun game, but one that still maintains solid art direction and a reasonably satisfying core gameplay.
The thermal energy mechanic goes far beyond simply encouraging you to keep moving. And even on Hard, it's an extremely generous mechanic to the point where you'll hardly find yourself in a hopeless situation. You have enough resources available to play at your own pace, as long as that doesn't include sitting around doing nothing.
There's not much reason for you to explore.
It's a very undemanding game too, so you'll hardly be hindered by the game's difficulty.
The only critical problems I can think of are the lack of a functional checkpoint system (Dying generally means going back through the entire level again) combined with the ease with which enemies can stunlock you if you rush too much and when they make you fly after a hit, which can, on rare occasions, mean you're thrown into a pit and die instantly. This sometimes means losing half an hour or more of progress.
It's an average good game even for the time. But it's solid. And fun if you're in the mood.
Really hope Capcom return to Lost Planet!
Seriously doubt that, Capcom for some reason seems rather 'embarassed' of the games that don't sell as well as their flagship titles do.
There are many IPs I wish Capcom would return to or re release on modern platforms like a lot of entries in their PS1 and PS2 library, or games that were only released on the Xbox/PS3 online stores.
