what happend to lost planet as a series ?

i had played the first two games growing up played the 3rd game didint even finish it was only like 14 at the time and had no web access now im just trying to pick up the pieces

to be fair lost planet 2 was a good bit different from the story driven story of 1. personally lost planet 1 is a special game
