Assassin melee damage tied to strength?
even when using Daggers and Short Swords? That seems wrong. Maybe Dual Wielding could flip Str and Dex stats for damage?

Nop, that's the case in this game. Dex is still very important for crits which are important for the assassin class

Just my perspective, but I love that the game makes most stats important to all classes. It allows for (at least slightly) different build approaches.

Also, FWIW, dual wielding assassin's inflict insane melee damage by the 20s or mid-20s AND can often do 2 attacks per turn (multiple attacks might wait 'til the early 30s). That's for humans and nagas, let alone vinscians which are even faster.

Split points roughly 50/50 between agility and strength, with occasional points into constitution and fate. I usually end up with high perception without trying, but it's OK to divert a few points there, too. I favor strength a little more than agility, but there's some leeway for personal preferences
