1) The meaning of this game is how beautiful it is, it's not about finding your way and move on, it's about exploring and learning the main character and her inner world
2) If you are not entertained... drop this game, it's not your kind of game!
You roam around Madotsuki's dreams and learn about her as you do so. Eventually you get your own take on what Madotsuki's story is based on your own interpretation of her dreams and get a theory out of it.
However if getting lost feels nice, play yume nikki. Pick a door and just go.
For a more streamlined experience though, look up how to get the Bike and the Medamaude/Eye-Palm effect. The bike makes you move faster and the Eye-palm moves you back to the nexus (where all the doors are)
