I reject this version of the game.
0.10 forever un-updated in its prime

Nothing was added or removed between 0.10 and the Steam release version.

Kikiyama licensed the Yume Nikki IP to Playism. Just like a whole bunch of other RPG Maker game developers did.

Nobody has heard from Kikiyama since 2015 last I checked and that was a private email about the earthquake.
Unless someone has proof of Kikiyama ever saying anything giving permission to alter the game.

And what about the manga? The novel? All the other licensed merchandise?
Just because Kikiyama doesn't get in contact with the fandom, some people assume they live in total anonymity, if at all.

Seriously, this version has some weird bugs compaired to the original, mostly stuff like some sounds not playing, or playing way too loud.
Theres also the bug where The crash event in the spaceship doesn't have the fadeout in the bed, so theres nothing to hint you should stay in there, and the stars just start rushing by and the alarm goes off with no warning.
They're mostly fixing issues they introduced, and seeing how its easier to press a button on steam to install a game, in comparison to finding a download and installing it manually (which may even include downloading a patch for rpg maker because its programed in japanese) they should make sure their version is up to the standards of the original.
Besides, unless you played the original japanese version, you were already playing a version that was modified by someone that wasn't the original creator.

All of which suck and aren't made by Kikiyama. The game was complete trash low effort unity game

Running the jp version through applocale wasn't really changing much

Are you saying you played the game in japanese, or that running it through applocale automatically translated it? I don't really know much about this stuff.

If you didn't run Yume Nikki on applocale, you didn't play it back then.
Applocale was supposed to translate the code/text to unicode so it would run on unnative systems.

Yeah, It was one of those games that I was planing on playing eventually, then the steam version can out with news of the follow up, so I had an excuse to play it.
So applocale let you run the game, but it didn't translate it. Unless you can read japanese, you had to play the translated version of the game. And since someone had to go in and change the game to be in english, it was a modified version.
If you did play the original japanese version though, congrats! You successfuly "No true scotsman"ed yourself into being the only person on Steam that REALLY played Yume Nikki.

I like all Yume Nikki games, but the new DREAM DIARY one seems a bit too realsitic, although it DOES have amazing music and graphics, it seems a bit short, but I guess it must've been hard work.

unless kikiyama pantomimed their idea for yume nikki to you in the bathroom of a japanese arby's you didn't experience the game as it was intended sorry nerds
