How did you guys discover Yume Nikki?

I want to get a sense of how far the fanbase stretches. I saw a few memes on reddit, and a few days later read a Polygon article. I'm telling my friend all about it and it's the first time he's heard of it, too. So how did you guys learn about it?

I actually wandered into it when I was looking around at RPGMaker games back six years ago. I got hooked after playing through it and eventually branched out to games like .Flow, Yume 2kki, and other fangames. The whole dream diving experience with little to no actual dialogue to carry a narrative is amazing, and I find it's the perfect game to play before bed or if I'm just bored and wanna explore something.

Sadly I don't have a year/date to brag about. But I've been amassing some weird games over time. Titles like Yume Nikki, Space Funeral, Dreaming Mary and one of my favourites; OFF.

There's just something about French surrealism that really throws the whole spectrum of logic out the window.

I saw SomeOrdinaryGamers, AKA Mutahar play it (I first discovered him through his Ao Oni 3D video I think, then I saw his LSD Dream Emulator playthroughs, and then the Yume Nikki ones). I loved the idea of it and the bizarre scenes it depicted. I'd never seen anything like it and it really just blew my mind.

I found Nitro Rad's videos of it recently and gave it a try. Love it!
