Every massive looming hunk of pathos gets a pun-Patriot to the fuselage. Il faut cultiver son jardin.

I never thought I’d play it. I now beat it. This was my first dungeon crawler.

Grimoire is not a book, it’s a mage staff – foul at the base, hand-carved in the middle, arcane at the top. That kaleidoscopic ending took me ten hours by itself. All RPGs tremble.

Accept its rules and its broken-to-the-point-of-borderline-sentience mechanics – and fifty hours later you’ll find yourself on the furthest shore of Hyperborea, gawking at 2000-year-old relics in the salty wet sand.

This is an outstanding game for old people like me. Also if you plan on playing this do yourself a favor, read and understand the whole manual before you even startup the game. I just really wish it worked on the Steam Deck. Other then that I love it.

old school rpg with actual different playable races up to 8 party members

This game is a YES - with a huge caveat!

I'm almost 8 hours in, and have just gotten out of the first town. Half of this time was spent in party creation!

The game is ugly. The UI is far from friendly. The gameplay is brutal.

And yet, I smile.

Due purely to current time constraints, I am uninstalling this game for now, but I will return to it. Maybe even when I retire, yes, there will be time then...

This is like Wizardy 7. but better. I can't play on the hardest difficulty, though, until I level-up some! There is always something new to find! It is more than just levelling up and combat. I like the UI, despite negative reviews. (But I am playing v 3 instead of 2.)

Incline.

Polarizing, rather self-absorbed dev made this over the course of two decades. It's Wizardry 8 if made by the same people who made 7. Its design philosophy is from the mid to late nineties without much in the way of 'ease of play'.

The UI will never win awards, and there's very little QoL in this, but if you need those, then this game isn't for you. You're lucky to have an auto map, especially one you can annotate.

Separate the guy from the game, it's good if you like this sort of thing.
