I've thought about writing up a short guide on how to best approach the game as a solo character. I would include equipment to look out for along with on when you should go to certain locations, enemies to watch out for, and a potential order of getting tablets so one would be able to enjoy being able to have access to several good weapon combinations so they can better enjoy them throughout the game. Maybe also some potential builds. Do you think there would be interest?
Anyhow, if you do make the guide I'll read it and possibly use some of your tips/advice. If you have anything to share feel free to dump it on me govna.
I tried it once and it was incredibly hard. If you recruit NPCs you can do it but otherwise one player against Hyperborea is an insanely hard drudge.

I have been playing Darkest Dungeon. Compared to Grimoire that game is so difficult even with a full retinue it seems impossible sometimes to win and most quests will eventually end with everybody dead, no money left and total fail. It is a very challenging game and that adds to the appeal.
I don't have experience in late game yet but quickly got bored by 8 characters to manage and restarted several times. Then I decided to try 100% Solo (never extra companion) and tried a couple times only to find they were not acceptable. Eventually I found Barrower Metalsmith very good early because it's kinda a tank class with Lethal Blow as skill.
In my opinion the best start for Metalsmith is the Crowl Prison because you get one 3d6 axe upstairs, the class already starts with a good shield. Then try some tries with the chest in first floor until the rng is in your favor. I found heavy Vambraces and Platemail with instrument Halcyonic Lyre nice enough.
My planned path is currently:
METALSMITH > BERSERKER > RANGER > WARRIOR > PIRATE > ASSASSIN > THIEF > BARD
Can't say how good or bad it's later on. But I have checked what Jester can do and I don't really need it because Bard has better gear selection particularly heavier equipment.
edit: Changed my planned path because thought one extra class to grind wouldn't hurt.
