Grimoire : Heralds of the Winged Exemplar

Grimoire : Heralds of the Winged Exemplar

Am I the first to complete the game with a solo character?
I managed to get my first ending with a solo character. It was the ending at the mines. I still intend on getting the rest of the endings. Does anyone know if someone else has completed the game solo?

I finished the game last week with several endings. So now we know at least I have done it.

Wow Dr. D, was it a totally solo playthrough with no recruited NPC's even? Even still that is amazing.

I only recruited story related npcs for short periods of time. Snivels and Count Orloch are good examples. The playthrough was a lot of fun. Even when you are maxed out stat and skill wise after numerous class changes to Jester, there are a couple of enemy groups that will kill you. Using the appropriate weapon combinations is essential. There are different weapons you want to be using at certain points.

I've thought about writing up a short guide on how to best approach the game as a solo character. I would include equipment to look out for along with on when you should go to certain locations, enemies to watch out for, and a potential order of getting tablets so one would be able to enjoy being able to have access to several good weapon combinations so they can better enjoy them throughout the game. Maybe also some potential builds. Do you think there would be interest?

I would be interested in seeing it, but not sure how many will actually view it.

Sorry for the double post, but this kind of inspired me to play through the game, I had to start completely over as my original hard-drive corrupted and I lost all my saves. I don't want to go solo, I actually made a full part of 8, but I am not taking them all out at once. I dismissed most of them and kind of dinking around and have a bit of fun. I love it when games allow you to just mess about like that, and the game plays a bit more "polished" than I remembered but I didn't get the game right when it came out, so missed a lot of the early issues that people reported.

Anyhow, if you do make the guide I'll read it and possibly use some of your tips/advice. If you have anything to share feel free to dump it on me govna.

I'll consider making a solo guide. The game was a lot of fun to play. But it is quite an undertaking considering the length.

I tried it once and it was incredibly hard. If you recruit NPCs you can do it but otherwise one player against Hyperborea is an insanely hard drudge.

I have been playing Darkest Dungeon. Compared to Grimoire that game is so difficult even with a full retinue it seems impossible sometimes to win and most quests will eventually end with everybody dead, no money left and total fail. It is a very challenging game and that adds to the appeal.

Late congrats!!

I don't have experience in late game yet but quickly got bored by 8 characters to manage and restarted several times. Then I decided to try 100% Solo (never extra companion) and tried a couple times only to find they were not acceptable. Eventually I found Barrower Metalsmith very good early because it's kinda a tank class with Lethal Blow as skill.

In my opinion the best start for Metalsmith is the Crowl Prison because you get one 3d6 axe upstairs, the class already starts with a good shield. Then try some tries with the chest in first floor until the rng is in your favor. I found heavy Vambraces and Platemail with instrument Halcyonic Lyre nice enough.

My planned path is currently:
METALSMITH > BERSERKER > RANGER > WARRIOR > PIRATE > ASSASSIN > THIEF > BARD

Can't say how good or bad it's later on. But I have checked what Jester can do and I don't really need it because Bard has better gear selection particularly heavier equipment.

edit: Changed my planned path because thought one extra class to grind wouldn't hurt.

I used the path that goes through all classes. It was a lot of grinding at the beginning going into assassin. Jester's can equip the bet weapons. Don't forget that you can equip heavy armor and keep it on when you switch classes. Just don't unequip. Also some of the best stuff is cursed. As far as weapons go, you will need to switch weapon setups between areas in the late game. Some of the endgame enemies are extremely difficult to kill solo without the proper weapon. Another clue I have for you is that with a particular equipment setup, you shouldn't have to rest at all. You can have good health, mana, and stamina regeneration. You can have most of the best stuff about halfway through the game. I hope you enjoy. This is a very long game. I wish you the best of luck.
