Detect Secret vs Scout
Haven't found this specific question addressed--so my understanding, based on how it worked on Wizardry 7, is that Detect Secret blinks whenever there's anything to be discovered (button, treasure, secret wall, etc); meanwhile your Scout skill will also fire depending on on its level.

So! If I've got someone with Scout 100--Rosy is either there or pretty close--does that mean I'll 100% detect every secret, or is there still a (very small) chance of silently failing and Rosy not noticing it? If I'm at Scout 100, basically, do I need to still cast Detect Secret as a backup or will Rosy take care of everything for me? Thanks!

Even with scout 100 i still miss things that I otherwise wouldn't have found if I don't cast detect secret all the time. Cleve mentioned this is a "noob" spell that would fade in use after a time, but I haven't found that to be the case at all.

I've seen one spot where neither "Scout" or "Detect Secret" worked.

Locate Item did reveal it though.

Oh man I've been kind of ignoring the existence of Locate Item--don't remember if it wasn't in Wiz7 or if it wasn't that useful. Here we're at the point where my familiarity with that game is hurting me :)

Either way, prob good to keep DS on. Generally I've been clearing dungeons with as much on simple scouting as I can, and if I get stuck I'll cast the DS spell--it's too much effort to cast it every time I have to rest.

What a hell of a game.

I''m not sure I even knew there is a Locate Item. Is it a spell?

Wizard's eye is the equivalent but its very weak compared to the scroll. So i just use the scroll then reload.
