Resolution issue is a game breaker as far as I am concerned

Sorry. Old gamer who grew up on these games so was looking froward to it.
Problem: Windows 10, beefy Falcon Mach V system...Load game-->all screens phase shifted to right and unable to see all menus/character portraits, etc. Text cut. Unable even to ESC out to Home screen or desktop. Read forum comments from dev...."Change resolution"... Ok, to what....my native is 2560 x 1440...1024 x 768? Still displays incorrectly in either full or windowed screen. Frustration. Requesting refund.
No way an 80 MB game that supposedly took 20 years to develop should be this difficult just to make playable right out of the box.

I have a 4k monitor, with my windows scaling set to 150%, and the ingame settings on fullscreen and no scaling, as well as setting the exe to run in Windows 98 mode, I have a fullscreen with no black borders. I have no idea why this works but it does. My desktop is set at 3840 x 2160.
