Wine/Linux/Mac
Does anyone know if this thing will run on linux? I am hesitant to buy windows only games these days because I want to lessen my reliance on proprietary software.

I'm D1Ping and will be updating my experiences. But it should be fine in a VM if not Wine. I can get even Witcher 3 running in Wine these days, so Grimoire shouldn't be a problem.

Well I shall await the verdict. Hopefully it comes to GoG at some point.

Cleve says that's in his plans. He also mentioned the possibility of linux at some stage and even talked about open sourcing it at one point, but who can predict the mighty ways of CMB.
The superdemo didn't play so well in Wine, it had some weird bug where the mouse cursor seemed to exist on a separate timeline from the end-user's own actual mouse movements. But maybe the full version will work better.

You would think for an old school style of game like this he would have mac/linux support. Sad!

+1 for the GNU/Linux support!

You can try the superdemo and see if that works.

The superdemo never worked for me on Linux Mint, i've tried several times over the last months without success.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, as i'm pretty sure we won't have to play Grimoire at all, not in this life.

Now that the game is out, has anyone had luck running it on Mac/Linux? I really would like to give this game a try, but I haven't had a Windows machine for years :)

It does work in Linux under Wine, but not with the default configuration. I managed to get it working in a 32 bit prefix and using winetricks to install a number of likely-looking dlls. That's using Arch linux and Wine 2.13. More info here:

Edit: I was initially partially successful and got it running without sound. I added a few more dlls and it's now fully functional with music and sfx.

nice, that's good to hear! Still official support would be better. But this is a start. I just want to make sure that if I get this game I'll be able to play :)

Do you know which DLLs those are? I want to know if I can get it to run on Mac before I take the leap to buy.

Yes, please do share what DLL's were necessary to get it to run with sound. Or, what flags are necessary to disable sound altogether...
