And by the way, changing audio output to "Headphones" does nothing to fix the low volume, while all other my games have no problems with it.
this.
Also, GIVE US KEY REBINDING OPTIONS AND FIX THE BROKEN AUDIO FOR NON-HEADPHONE USERS!
"Ace of Frames - Beat the game with a ranking of A" - Shouldn't the achievement be automatically unlocked if beating the game with a higher ranking and as such unlocking "The Egret Has Landed - Beat the game with a ranking of S"
Probably because the game runs at a fixed speed so lower sampling rate will distort the sound - sound goes screwy for me for example if I turn vsync on as the game then massively speeds up because it then runs at 144fps (really annoying that it has to be fixed to 60fps).
i've seen japanese ports refuse to even boot with high sample rates. they pick a ageing pc from the last 7 years and test their ports on that.
It was common back in the days to tie logic to framerate or refresh rate, that's why for instance you get the ladder glitch in Dark Souls PTDE if you play at 60 fps or avove, or the glitch that made you take twice as much damage in Vanquish if you played over 60 fps (which was fixed a few days after release). I assume Cygames ported the original PS2 code, which likely tied a lot of things to refresh rate AND was in Japanese (they code things very differently than western coders).
To be fair, it's not easy to port older games like this. That doesn't excuse how buggy, or should I say unplayable for some including myself (although I fixed it somehow) the game shipped on PC.
As I said in the thread I created, whatever the platform may be, playtesting is not an option and can make or break a game. The blame goes to Cygames IMO though.
This is more and more common ever since PS4/X1 released, because they now share the x86-64 instruction set (they're low, low end PCs basically) - devs make sure the game "runs fine" (Depending on what you call running fine, which 30fps doesn't qualify to for me) on consoles and litteraly copy paste their code because they know it'll work, for better or for worse, out of the box without playtesting. "Ship it, then fix it", that's what the wonderful world of 8th gen consoles brought us, gamers on any platform...
- Install/Open Nvidia Inspector 2017 (google it if needed)
- Create a profile for ZOE2 and add the .exe
- set Vsync to FORCE OFF, see if affects audio
- Reset any previous modification, set Vsync to FORCE ON, see if it affects audio
- Reset, try to set THREADED OPTIMIZATION to ON or OFF
May want to try some combinations of those.
