Konami has been weird lately though.
For one, I never expected this to hit PC, for another, they haven't released the MGS games on Steam (they did 1/2 on GoG).
ZoE1 also isn't that good.
The GBA game has an OK plot, but the gameplay is braindead easy.
But it's really underwhelming after you've played ZoE2.
- Slower combat.
- Barely any varied enemies (Raptors and Mummies mostly)
- Need to collect passcodes, servers, and destroy porters
- Limited subweapons.
- Go back and forth on maps.
- Kiddy characters.
The game also feels like a prolog. How much do you think could sell it for? I'd guess 20€ tops. So not worth the effort of porting it. And seeing how little support 2 received, probably better that way.
It's a game that's stuck with me visually, mechanically, and plot wise 10x more so than most video games I've played since.
I don't care if other people don't think it's 'better' it's a truly unique game with more to say than anything I've seen from the industry in decades and I would hope to see it carried forward.
Sure ZOE2 is a great game as well, but it simply isn't ZOE1.
And get Z.O.E. 3 going again.
HD collection sold poorly on PS3/360.
MARS sold poorly on PC/PS4.
Can't blame Konami for not give a third chance to ZOE1 when ZOE2 failed 3 already.
"While the first game obtained good sales in North America as a result of including the demo for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, received mediocre sales."
Best hope for this franchise is Kojima productions creating a spiritual sequel. Similar mech designs and everything just a different world.
...Or do you think Super Metroid is terrible because you "go back and forth on maps"?
In the case of ZoE1, this feel specially pointless because the game isn't structured to be an adventure/exploration game. It's just there to go back and forth.
