Are Princess Maker fans mostly female?
It seems like a lot of people I know who have played Princess Maker are girls. A lot of people I know think it's a very girly game. Maybe that's just by me.

Don't think so, I'am male and a Princess Maker-Fan since I discovered the Dreamcast collection of part 2 and 3 around 15 years ago.

The series is pretty clearly aimed at straight dudes, lol! It has a LOT of fanservice, especially in earlier titles, and it took until the most recent games before there was even an option for the parent character to be female.
Its weird though cos the genre itself is popular with women and you'd assume this sort of plot and art style would be a typical 'girly game'. So i wouldn't be surprised if it was popular with a lot of female players too, even if it wasn't really designed to be. I mean, I'm a fan of the series, at least!

Played this game during my early teens and I am a male. Before The Sims franchise was even created. This was the only life simulation genre game that we had access to. Something about building the stats was really fun for me.

I usually make my girl super strong, and ended up being a hero, then I try to make her perfect so she becomes a ruler. Just marrying into royality to become a princess through beauty and charm is unappealing for me expecially when your daughter barely knows the guy.

Male too. Play the role of a father to watch my daughter grow.

I am a lady and a fan of the Princess Maker series. Have no idea as to how many people nor the gender of the people that are fans of this game series. It doesn't really matter in the end as long as you enjoy the game :D I enjoy raising the daughter up (^_^)/ There so many different endings xD and with some you are like 'Uh I messed up somewhere along the way' type of thing.

(There is a game app series which is somewhat similar to Princess Maker. Love Story: Magical Princess 'dating & life sim' you can raise a Daughter or a Son *Costs 9.99 to unlock boy while girl is free* and be a Mama or a Papa. Love Story: Legendary Twins 'anime sweetheart' you can raise a Daughter or a Son *Costs 0.99 to unlock boy while girl is free* and be a Mama or a Papa. The developer is CatCap Studio.)

Male here. I like it since PM 2 and mostly because it has many endings. I always love when different ways leads to different endings. I hate it in games when you have choices that ultimativly lead to the same end. So PM was always a good game for me.

Isn't the playable character the girl's father? And you can dress her up in some skimpy outfits. Regardless, I don't really consider this to be a game for a particular gender.

So it is popular with everyone. Guess my town is just really biased.

I think the fact that you're playing as the father points to it being targeted towards men. Japanese have a bit (a lot) different idea of what counts as "girly" or "manly". That being said, this is a good question. Maybe someone should make a poll or something to find out. I'm a straight white man and this series has been a big part of my childhood but I'm interested in finding out if I'm actually in the majority or minority here when it comes to its demographic.
