Single player - any good?
Does this game have a complete single-player experience, without being forced into any online nonsense?

If yes, does the difficulty level take into account a single player?

Can the online features be disabled?

Yes you can play offline. There's an AI companion you can opt to use (which I would) or you can go solo.

TLDR, yes it works just fine for a singleplayer

according to others it's rather short ( 10 - 20 hours, ofcourse question how much of that is rushed gameplay to begin with ), but it's probably not that far off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

as far as i can tell it's set difficulty

it's a hub based overworld with a set of enemies specific to the hub you are in.
traverse hub, collect stuff, fight boss, move to next hub.
it starts out with some back and forth, you get fast travel eventually, makes it a lot faster to go around then.

i'm not sure if you are familiar with "kingdoms of amalur: reckoning", but it follows that setup.

every hub is somewhat designed to be towards you as you can't exaclty level up.
do a quest, get some extra health as a reward.
collect some random things around ( huge feathers ) and you get some extra health and stamine, but nothing super heavy.

as such you can't be beyond the latest hub you can be in.. previous hubs become easier obviously :)

the other segment that defines how hard something is is your weapon of choice, upgrade it to keep on par with enemy health, Pretty simple :)

as for "companion". it does not care wether you have one or not. Everything is set and enemies are of the "swarm-type".

having no companion basically means it's a good bit harder then it needs to be, unless you want it that way.
having a companion however feels a bit to easy to me... like the enemies they have serious tracking on their side and care nothing for their health ( if they die you can just get them back after all )

I feel it should be somewhere inbetween. It's either tedious with swarming ( if no companion ) OR "to easy" ( with a companion ). But preffernce is prefference :)
don't worry they will not last troughout a bossfight as an AI companion, pretty much half of it will be up to purely you.

as said above you can turn of the multipalyer as a whole, i'd recommend you do so.
it sucks for those who want to play random coop, but essentially the coop in this game means you will without you really knowing end up with a player instead of a companion and that player will basically play the whole game for you.

running around activating things for you
killing all the things for you
finding the random feathers for you

ofcourse if you like that, it's all fine. personally i'm more for making my own decission and if i want to insert an explore section after a bossfight, no other player needs to go pulling me to the next bossfight instantly :)

it's partially on the players for being that way and partially on the uncontrolled passive multiplayer.
It works for journey ( it realy does, journey is a gem )... it's more annoying then anything else for this type -.-

There's an option for in in the multiplayer section. Just click the box to disable AI or online companion.

Thanks for the opinions peeps. I'll probably pick this up once my games backlog has shrunk a bit.
Thanks for the information Baby_Cookie! Good to know it's the Kingdom of Amalur setup.
