Need technical support: Multiplayer not working at all

Can't play with my friend

At three different sessions my friend and myself have been trying desperately to connect with eachother to play this game coop. We have never been able to connect to eachother or any other random player even though we've been religiously following all tips laid out in these guides:

Have also tried getting help from the help-email at ashen-game.com, but no luck in getting an answer. We're both playing on PC in the same region (Norway, EU), with the same multiplayer filter and tried a various of different places to connect. Both close to the ritual stone and the boss door outside Okkuro, and many other places. Therefore I assume that multiplayer is somehow broken at the moment, at least in our region. In other online videos featuring coop with friends the joining part seems to be seamless, and not requiring literally hours of frustration.

We both see that this is a good game that we can have a lot of coop fun with, but there is no way we can play together it seems like. If we can't play together this would be a waste of money.

I was told after asking around in the official discord that there might possibly be some devs/tech support from A44 lurking here in the Steam forums - and I hope I can get an answer and/or help.

All replies from other players having the same troubles will also be very welcome.

UPDATE/SOLUTION:
My friend had some kind of extra router (or modem?) "made for gaming" which made it impossible for him to play multiplayer Ashen. After he unplugged it everything regarding the multiplayer experience have been buttery smooth. He has never had any problems with online gaming before this.

If anyone has similar problems connecting with friends, make sure to check your router setup!

Oh, sorry Die Zahl. I didn't clarify that I'm launching the game from Epic Games Launcher. I thought it would be obvious because that it had to be EG because it's not on Steam yet. I had to post this here as there is no equivalent message board on EG, and I was recommended to do it from the official Discord channel.

If you're using Epic Games Launcher, then use Epic Games chat/forum/whatever. As @Die Zahl said, the game is not out yet.

Well, the developer chose epic games launcher over steam, so I'm not sure why you're using steam for troubleshooting software that came from a different launcher.

Look deeper into the epic store and launcher, I'm sure the devs wouldn't be so careless as to launch it on a platform whereby they aren't even able to provide you the most basic of support. If not, file a support ticket with epic.

Ask there for help. The developers don't attend to problems reported here at all and haven't been that happy with the open criticism here lately.

The amusing thing is that according to him, he was redirected to seek help here by those in discord. I think he should file a support ticket with Epic games instead

lol. Now I kinda want to know what they have been talking about. I want the trash developers input on why they think they got backlash from doing something so stupid as to sell out for Epic.

I mean it's pretty obvious that they are so scumy that they would openly advertise on one platform just to pull it out from under people and get the higher sales cut from epic while still keeping the steam forums intact. Like how do they want people to see it other than them being extremly greedy?

I like how you buy the game on Epic but come back to Steam when you need help.

It’s your money, use it how you will, but I can’t believe you’d waste your money on such an anti-consumer platform that doesn’t allow you to leave reviews or talk with people in your own forums.

No way! A developer that puts their game on Epic, a platform that prides itself on not allowing consumers to share their thoughts, is unable to handle criticism? xD

Sigh.... it’s funny but it’s damn sad... I can’t believe these developers can somehow feel happy with themselves knowing that they took advantage over a more successful platform just so they could use it for free advertisement of the fact that they’re selling it somewhere else.

I guess it’s easy not to feel shame when you have lots of dirty money to distract you.
