thanks for having a look into Harvest Life. Some of the players have trouble with the controls at first glance as you do. If you get used to them, the controls won´t be a big issue i hope.
At first I´ll point you to a wonderful guide written by cheekiyaya https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1437986820
it says its an achievement guide but tells you many more things about the game such as some game-mechanics.
lets have a look at some of your issues you highlighted.
Eating apples or other food from you inventory:
you have up to four inventory slots each marked with a number from 1-4. In dependance of the slot that contains your apples, just push the number of the slot on your keyboard.
for planting crops :
walk to the field you want to plant your crops. Right mouse button changes the kind of crop, left mouse button plants the crop of your choice. after planting the left mouse button is for watering the field. head to the next field to plant the next crop.
small icons in your actionbar indicate which button you should use.
hope i could help out a bit,
and thanks for playing Harvest Life
Roman, Bumblebee.
How do you increase the bag> I remember seeing a bag in tutotrial to increase I think how much you see in the bottom bar area - or get the padlock to unlock. It's not on the plotting table.
edit= Figured it out, in the village (to right of cow pen) it's just a small ordinary house in the middle of the village with a small icon on door, (for a warehouse it's about the smallest house) if you go in there you can upgrade the inventory, (and the smithy which is more obvious in village you can upgrade other items)
