First time user experiences
I'd love to hear from you all about your first run and any thoughts you have about what was confusing, what worked well, the default settings, whatever you'd like to comment on.
A lot of the choices on things like the defaults were hard to make, so I'm interested in your thoughts!
Probably the toughest one was deciding which comfort level to set as default. I didn't want sensitive people to get sick, but ultimately I decided that it would be good to default to Intense so that people would get to see what the full experience is like and then they can try the other comfort levels to find theirs.

First thought on seeing this existed was "I wonder how faithful to the experience this could possibly be". I wasn't expecting it to be, so came in with an open mind. It's a nice music visualizer for sure.

Also thought it was a bit ironic that this is a music visualizer since it's far from music friendly =)

My initial experience was very fluid. The menu was clear and I had it monitoring my PC's sound quickly and then threw on some music to check out the visuals. Control-wise, I wasn't sure what sort of interactions were possible and began to just do whatever. The trigger dragging the view was initially jarring and made me a bit queazy, but it passed once I realized what happened. I then tried to reset the view by pressing the other buttons but only was able to make the menu pop back up. Then it was time to move through the various modes with the joystick. I wanted to isolate each animation, and the options UI is more than adequate for this.

Then I listened to one of my favorite Seven Lions EPs and had a blast. I particularly loved Shatter and pretty much ran that for the whole thing. Then, feeling inspired, I went and started reading about how to render symmetrical geometries in Unity while it downloaded and realized I have a LOT of reading to do. Kudos for such an amazing and inspiring work of art. Bravo.

We'll get this figured out! I'm not sure what you mean by just right click, can you go into a bit more detail?
And, just for clarity, are you using a VR headset? The app works without one, because some users wanted that, but it's definitely been tested more on VR. If you're playing without a VR headset, knowing that will definitely help me figure this out!

I replied to your post in the other thread with some questions. No pressure, but the more info you can provide the better I'll be able to track down the issue.
Thanks!

Gave me a migraine after 30 minutes but then again I *am* prone to migraines lol :lunar2019deadpanpig: Honestly there isn't anything that can be done about that, enjoyed it while it lasted though :winter2019happybulb:

Yeah, there are things I'm doing in the app that are "not something that can happen in reality", where your two eyes aren't seeing the right stereo image. Some people aren't bothered much by it, and some people use various substances to assist. But, fundamentally, I'm sending images to your brain that aren't "right" and if you're prone to migraines the app will probably trigger that.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
Oh, one thing that might help- if you run in "Expert" instead of "Intense", you'll be seeing a monoscopic image. It loses depth, but for that reason it's probably a lot easier on people who are prone to migraines, and even without the depth it's still a cool experience (if I do say so myself :) )

Anyway, I just want to apologize for causing you to suffer a migraine. I'm really glad you were able to enjoy it anyway, but a migraine is a pretty heavy price to pay for it :(

Flashing me back to my MilkDrop and Quake days! Thank you for that. Loving this so much.
I did run into a few little things I thought i would bring up:
If you're not looking directly at the menu it closes when you use the controller to select something.
I keep re-centering my view, I would think the zero/center point / end of the tunnel would be static, but maybe that's just me.
Again though: I absolutely love this, and if you want a tester or something let me know. I'm happy to support

So, first off- both Quake and Milkdrop have very prominent places in my shrine of most beloved things. Back in the day, my college friends and I were called Impulse9, and we played a LOT of Quake.

And thanks for the feedback! So one thing I think I'm gravitating toward is having a checkbox that's like "have the center of the tunnel always be in the same place"
That's a lot of words to fit on one button, so it might need a little wordsmithing :)
anyway, there is a tradeoff which is that you will get less variety and it might start to feel repetitive. I think that rather than making that choice for you I should just make a button that lets you make that choice yourself!
