Not entirely sure what you are refering to as glitchy mode, but modes that drop the spining effects for a little while and switch it up, felt most times like a welcome change. Only thing I found a little disconcerting were the times it hard cut to black, only for me to look down and see effects underneath me. Is there any way to fade out the effects to black even if it pretty quick I would still find it preferable I think.
Overall very impressed would be happy to donate for future development (if theres a way) especially since the market price was so reasonable. Keep it up!
Great feedback, thanks for writing up your experience! I'll see if I can figure out any remedy for the hard cuts to black- it's actually something I've been chewing on for a while but haven't come up with a good solution yet, but I'll keep investigating!
I don't really have a way to accept donations, but never fear I'm going to keep developing because a) I love it when people enjoy this thing I made and b) I use it all the time and whenever I think of something I want it to do, I make it do that :)
Having said that: The best way you can help me out is to GET THE WORD OUT! I really, really suck at self-promotion. I'm not good at it and I don't enjoy doing it. So, please do it for me :) If you happen to know Snoop Dogg, please make him try it :)
Also, I've spent many hours visualizing Come to Daddy, Windowlicker, and ICBYD!
I posted about DMT on the Vive subreddit today because I was so impressed by it, yesterday. I hope it gets you a few more sales - a niche title like this in a small VR market is always going to struggle for sales. It feels like the Steam store has almost as many Vive titles as headset owners at present, and many good releases are slipping by unnoticed because of this.
Truer words have never been spoken :)
Also, much appreciated!
Putting a show controller on/off toggle button on the controller would also be nice.
Also, yeah, now that you mention it there isn't an exit button :) You can hit ESC to exit, but there's currently no way to do it without the keyboard. Adding that to the menu should be pretty straightforward, so I'm going to do it!
Thanks for taking the time to give me your feedback, it really helps!
Hi! Sorry you're having problems!
I've seen something similar happen after a recent Oculus update. Here's what works for me:
1) make sure the Oculus software is running
2) shut down Steam VR
3) re-launch SteamVR
Hopefully that works!
@DMT I hope you continue to expand and perfect it. This is an awesome way to experience new music.
Awesome, I'm glad you're enjoying it!
And, don't worry, I'm going to be busy on this thing for a long time. Just the list of features people requested during Early Access will keep me busy, and I keep coming up with new ideas while working on those requests!
Firstly, THANK YOU !
I thank you for sharing your idea and developing it.
I hope you have much success through your work, both this app and beyond !
Secondly, thank you for so much enjoyment and many experiences found in using your program.
Thank you for continuing to develop it too.
Thirdly, I bought this to be able to experiment with the music I make and your program to visualise the sound.
DMT gives this ability to 'see' changes really great !
A challenge I had (nothing to do with your program) was to get external audio to play through the Oculus Rift headphones.
I used an audio cable from my synthesiser keyboard to the microphone IN jack on the computer.
Firstly I could not hear any external sounds, but I could hear the Oculus audio and mp3's played on the computer.
After investigating, I found the microphone to be 'muted' in the windows sound settings.
[On Windows 10 PC, right click the speaker icon in the task bar >
choose 'Open sound settings' >
look for 'Input' section, below it, choose/click 'Device properties' >
click the 'Listen' tab at the top >
check / select the 'Listen to this device' box, so that it has the tick >
click on 'OK' >
close the 'Sound settings' window >
close the Oculus and Steam VR programs, then open them again.
So, then I could hear internal and external sounds in the Oculus program.
However, I could not hear them through the Rift headphones when I ran DMT.
The audio would switch to the computer heaphones and not be heard in the Rift headset.
This problem was fixed by changing an advanced setting -
[On Windows 10 PC, right click the speaker icon in the task bar >
choose 'Open sound settings' >
look for 'Input' section, below it, choose/click 'Device properties' >
click the 'Advanced' tab at the top >
uncheck / clear the 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device' box >
click on 'OK' >
close the 'Sound settings' window >
close the Oculus and Steam VR programs, then open them again.
And it now works great !
I'm able to play the external sounds from drum machine / synth / ipad audio and to 'see' the sonicality expression !
if you have not already considered this, what about having MIDI control of the parameters?
For example, a song plays via midi and the parameters are altered by the MIDI info - so then you could have any MIDI controller to alter the parameters.... here is the ideal expressive platform !
Imagine !
Acceleromic and gyroscopic manipulation of the matrix !
Mulitidimensional morphication !
Hey, I really, strongly suggest to you - take a look and listen to Onyx Ashanti ... you and him getting involved would be...... OOOOOOooooooohhhhh WoWoWoWoWow !!@;':908)&)^(5^&$

Anyway, thank you again !
May you continue to be inspired and gain life !
All the best !
I'm not sure whether the Oculus Quest has a mic-in jack (I do know it has a microphone, which might be enough) but I'm imagining Onyx Ashanti wearing that with his hardware plugged directly into it, running DMT. I think that would be amazing!
Ok, MIDI control of the variables- Yes! This is actually already on The List of Things I Want To Add, so it's definitely coming eventually! I'm thinking something like this would drive it

$70 or so, not bad!
Eventually (this is a lot of work, so further down the road) I'd like to make it possible for people to stream their DMT session to other users. That, in combination with presets and MIDI control, would allow you to create really personally expressive sequences and would allow someone who really got into it to share that with the world! It'll be a while, but definitely something I want to do!
