It's written in such a way that you get the impression that Canaan noticed Maria collapsing and immediately rushed into the room.
Game: Alphard is Leland Palmer!
Me: Who? Oh, I think I remember that guy. If this is is Alphard then that is a terrible plot twist. Everything in the game up to this point has been far better than this. This can't be the real Alphard. For one thing the real Alphard should be female since they make a point of referring to Alphard as "he" all the time so a female would be a good surprise. Of the female characters in the game, Canaan is the only one that works as a good reveal. I bet it's going to end up being her.
If the fake Alphard had been a more convincing candidate, I probably wouldn't have suspected anything though. :)
the catsuitwoman being maria was very predictable so leland being alphard seemed plausible to me.
