i.e., if it's x2 (energy SMG, for instance), you'll need 2 ammo to fire one shot.
Edit : That's why energy sells are so precious : With 100 energy cells, you'll fire maybe around 30 shots (more if they power up a SMG, less if they power up a rifle).
Yeah some heavy energy weapons eat them up at a staggering X5 rate...
To be fair, they have the best damage per shot in the game. Due to how damage resistance works, stacking damage is better than it seems.
For instance, ignoring penetration, if you deal 11 damage and the enemy has 10 DR, the net result is 1 damage. If you deal 21 damage and the enemy has 10 DR, you deal 11 damage.
Moreover, since critical hits apply their multipliers to the final net result, higher base damage is very, very powerful.
A single shot from one of those x5 weapons can kill an enemy if you crit and have synergy.
