ok so creepers ♥♥♥♥ me up
i dont have enough energy ammo to just keep blasting, and once the smokescreen is up im done, hitchance reduced to 20% and i dont have enough damage output to take them out before they regen. cant wear anything with thermal vision because i would have to lose the hazmat suit. any advice?

I won all fights in Yellow and Red zones without using energy weapons and grenades except for the last one next to the fungus sample. This is where I used one Stasis grenade against 2 Elder/Tough creepers and Evans' energy rifle shots. The Biotech skill I'd been investing in for so long finally came in handy as it gave me a small advantage against creepers. In Cobra's case it led to them missing their sucking strikes against her, something I'd never seen happen to any character before. Whether pumping your Biotech skill to the 8th level at the expense of others is up to your to decide. I puposefully did it throughout the game as I thought that in a sci-fi setting being a science geek is the way to go. Somehow I managed to strike the balance between tech and combat skills, ditching charisma and speech/persuasion completely. I believe I missed a few plot lines, but since I can open any door, make any machine work and beat nearly every opponent, it's fine with me.

Bizarrely, the hazmat suits are just a noob trap. Beyond the fact that they require an absurd amount of armor handling to get rid of penalties, you also can't get thermal vision with them. They are so bad that the only purpose for them right now is to trap noobs.

Devs watching newbs get owned by their hazmat suits : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPQFF0oqsto

Then again for veterans wanting a challenge mode: as soon as a hazmat suit is being encountered it must be worn by a crew member...and theyr ya have yr new iron man mode feel free to try that one on for size :steammocking:

Hazmat suits are good if you want to do a non-combat run or want to get to loot that requires 100% toxic resistance. I used them on my solo diplo thief since they have no sneak penalty.

They're also a byproduct of design changes, since the original plan was to have the toxic air drain HP if you didn't meet the requirements. Since that would have opened a massive can of worms, it was changed to limiting max hp.

ye that's what I thought the toxic air's gonna do and that's why I started with hazmat. I don't feel I'm a noob, I play on underdog and this was the first time I whined about difficulty (because it's been a while since the last update and I forgot how to play the game like a normal person)

all the new mineral is really good, my only complaint is the last fight in red zone. i know its optional but for a non combat focused build its importable. some way even the odds with skills would be good or a way to brake it in to more then one fight.

Something to consider is that the current place of Hydroponics Yellow and Red in the flow of game is temporary.

For technical reasons we had to focus on it first (Mission Control needs the worm and Romeo as PC controllable), but the way to access these areas is inside MC, so you'll do that first and then move to do Hydro.

In a way, it's a similar situation for when we first released the New Pit and the arena fights. They were quite hard, but the areas that opened up alongside it were missing, along with new equipment and chances to increase level/skills.

The advanced targeting chip's bonuses are not displayed when I hoover my mouse on the ocular implant. The other ocular implant's bonuses: optical and thermal vision are displayed but not the targeting one. As a test attached it on 2 companions, but no luck.

Yeah, the bonuses are working but the effects not shown, we are going to expand the weapon breakdown tooltip system to show them =)
That last fight? in hydroponics red looked scary as ♥♥♥♥ that I decided to not even try it alltogether.

That said the rest of encounters were mild, 2-3 creepers together were a bit tough sometimes. Their hp leech regen can be nasty and their armor is tough.

You don't have to do heart implant as you can find some masks that give 100% toxic resistance on that level.

Smokescreen works against them? Aren't they blind?
