ok so creepers ♥♥♥♥ me up
i dont have enough energy ammo to just keep blasting, and once the smokescreen is up im done, hitchance reduced to 20% and i dont have enough damage output to take them out before they regen. cant wear anything with thermal vision because i would have to lose the hazmat suit. any advice?

Heart implant + frankenstein mask + helmet with visor OR heart implant+security officer helmet not only does these combos make you poison proof but they have a rather high thermal sight rating(80% if i properly recall)

Also stasis can help in avoiding one of them. We are looking into their Neural Resistance as well so that disruptors can work.

I'd ditch the hazmat suit in favor of a gas mask of some kind, even if you're losing some max HP to poison as a ranged character you absolutely need thermal vision to fight creepers. Energy Vest is great against creepers since it blocks their drain while the shield is active.

only thing stasis does for me right now is delaying my death. I'll try changing gear as suggested by others. but tbh - i know that's my problem and all, but while i appreciate the game's difficulty and not a single fight made me angry before, creepers make me ragequit, they're OP as ♥♥♥♥. might be that i havent played in a while and im rusty now, but man, they feel seriously OP. getting close to the caliber of stalkers and crawlers in Underrail, but i ultimately learned how to own those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

ok, I'm a dum-dum. combination of ditching the hazmat suits, keeping initiative without penalties and well placed energy shots resulted in the first two fights won with zero problem. I forgot how to play this game but I'm on track now. thanks for the advice guys

That's cool to hear! Also another thing to keep in mind with the is that they use melee attacks to the head, so a sturdy helmet can go a long way.

ye I might have to find some cause elder creepers just made me realize I've wasted my energy ammo in the yellow zone... :P

You wasted yr precious energy ammo in... the yellow zone ?! devs&seasoned players be like : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnedkVrgFF0
On a more serious note yeah that's a rough deal as at the end of the red zone there is some uber gear including fancy armor&weapons&toxic immunity mask...

I kinda did it, last fight left (the one with three creepers). with some planning and luck I'll win it. something bugging me though - how can I make my guys not use their energy weapons on reaction shots? they're switched to ballistics at the end of the turn and still they waste energy on reactions.

You can toggle off/on reaction attacks for your equipped weapon by clicking the thunderbolt icon near percentage number.
Keep in mind that if you put the weapon back into your equipment backpack, it will reset.

Other than energy weapons, anything deal decent damage to them? Also, is only way to avoid their drain is a shield? Sufficiently strong helmet doesn't block the drain?

Melee Jed with the Big hammer and the new Super Stims from the Machine.
I just wished I had given Jed Tough Bastard for 10hp more. Also: I switched him to pure Melee-Armor. (different Trousers and Arms). Edit: turns out I switched even to the really heavy Melee Armor.

Will provide Screenshot.

Evans Crit Officer Pistol

Jed Crit big hammer Knockdown (with the good stim Jed can get up to 20 AP, which is good enough for two Knockdown Attacks.)

Yesterday enemy damage was more spread out. If you are postioned unlucky and one and the same char gets all the "hugs" and Floater attacks, he will go down.

Probably worth taking Zen-Stim against the Panick-Attacks from the Floater

The other Eye-Implant upgrade (+4 Acc, +2 Crit) would have been even better I guess.
Will do that next playthrough.

If you can pump damage fast enough, anything works on creepers. Burst attacks with high crit chance can usually kill them quite fast. All Habitat companions deal with them relatively well.

Meeh I managed to win that combat(no biotech weakness reveal) back when creper pulls deactivated energy shield and without having habitat companions just good ole Jed&Faythe ...it was one tough nut to crack that combat but i eventually pulled it off with just Jed getting Ko-ed(turns out putting 2 creepers in stasis until the rest of the battlefield got cleared was the key)
