How do you upgrade mutations?
I see that there are 3 tiers but I have seen nothing about how to get tiers 1 and 2.

You have to bring a frog brain to Miriam(?) in Hydroponics, then she'll ask you for 3 frog brains, when you bring them she'll give you tier 1 of your choice, they increase with the use of the corresponding stim.
Is it after a certain number of uses? I used zen and still have mental fortitude 1.

You need to use zen stim more to reach next mutation tier. Keep your eyes on the combat log. It always notifies you when you reach the next tier. Do keep in mind that you can only get one mutation per encounter. So don't waste all your stims on one encounter thinking you'll cheese it.

To reach lvl2 you need to use 2 zens and for lvl3 you need to use 5 zens... goes without saying you can either take 5 zen over the course of the entire game to max out the mutation OR hit the solo frog hiding near the creeper and simply shoot two birds with one stone: farm armor handling SP for getting hit while you chug your 5zens in that single battle(bring an energy armor/shield and some heavy boots and you can tank that frog for ever)

There isn't really such a thing as "Farming Armor Handling XP" as the total skill XP for any fight is fixed AFAIK.

rakshasa72 semantics^ as i don't know how else to describe you ending turn for 12turns(or however ever long it takes for 4zens to expire) vs a solitary frog... nobody is that bad at combat and the only thing that sitting still for 12 turns does is to technically farm armor handling/evasion SP the exact opposite of killing said frog before it can act and cashing in a boat load of crit SPs.
