I've found some pretty good guides for knicking that eye, but I can't find anyone asking about this...

There must be a minimum stealth skill level you need right? At the moment I can't do it, because the squares I need to move to are red, but when I've watched videos of people doing it, those squares are green or yellow (when the camera isn't on them, obviously).

So should I have focused a little bit more on stealth? Faythe's stealth is only 4.

You need a 6 + upgraded stealth gadget ...

Also keep in mind that the sneak values have been changed since Land of the Blind was introduced. Back then you could go in with Sneak 2, high dex and a gadget, so older videos might not be up to date.

Right now you need at least Prowler OR Tunnel Runner to get there without higher sneak.

You need at least 6 Sneak as well as Prowler feat to guarantee success in this mission.

You can also get the eye if you have Sneak 6 and FULLY upgraded Cloaking Field with all MK1 upgrades. You can get all the stuff needed from Protectors military trader or loot it from one of the Fifth Daughter guards in the Heart during Jed's companion quest.
Getting the eye with the gadget without sneak feats is considerably harder and you will be busted by alarm on your way out, however this only cuts some Sneak SP from you currently.

While the mission has a relatively demanding stealth profile- only Thief Faythe with perks/ cloaking device and a specialized Mastermind PC are likely to succeed- it's also optional. The related main quest is to get deeper into Mission Control: at least one of the alternatives is a combat-ready party getting ready to fight... Ol' Bub.

I beat it with Stealth 8 (equivalent to 6 + Prowler) and a cloaking device. Didn't even have Ghost. You need to carefully watch the cameras, and ideally only fire the cloaking device near the point you're ready to end the mission.

Hmmm. Finishing this mission might be the better call after all.

Harbinger can complete this mission rather easily but it requires killing Knurl.
AFAIK, Ghost is useless in this mission as cameras don't care about sound.

Also Tunnel Runner is useful here like Skaudus said but I haven't tried it here myself.

Thanks for the help everyone! I've now got Faythe up to L6 sneak, and a cloaking device. I'll go back to Shadow at some point :)

I was able to nick all contents from the three sarcophagi with 4 stealth and a 1/1/1 cloak field. You will not be able to escape the room without getting caught without higher skill, but you'll only miss out on a handful of stealth XP that way.

this is outdated and no longer possible with only 4 sneak

But I did it the day of. How recent is that change, 28th?

I simply take Third Daughter to this quest. She had 8 sneak with tag, so you can steal everything and get out even without use cloaking field:)

So I went back to Shadow and I took Harbinger - oh boy, that made it soooo much easier!

Maybe it's a bit of a cheat, but still the only solution when playing a solo fighting character, because then the sneak is not so necessary, so it's a shame to spend a tag on it. And in a solo game, everyone is worth their weight in gold :)

At the time of writing this comment, as long as you have Lv4 stealth skills and Prowler's skills, can get all the rewards without being discovered.
I had to choose the right side route instead of the left.

I also brought in a Cloaking Field with enhanced power cells only, but I'm not sure if it was really necessary.

Playing solo underdog runs, never tag sneak or pick sneak traits (build is already too tight), but I got zen mutation and skill monkey, so must start with 8 int.

Put 1 point in sneak to start at 2.

I usually arrive to Factory with 6 sneak (sneak everything you can except Hargrave, i.e. armory sneak all the way, hydroponics sneak frogs and sneak kill squatters with a terminal, mysterious stranger sneak kill 3 fight 1, Samuel sneak kill 2 then fight 1, and in MC sneak to elevator past the scavs, sneak loot hydroponics and regulators ofc)

From there, it's smooth sailing on sneak stuff (loot the fort stanton, sneak through black fortress), then loot sneak Habitat all places, by the time I hit the Eye I got sneak 7 and can easily do it, and by stop the war I hit Sneak 8 and can easily do it.
