Greetings! Even at the moment, the game is still in “Early Access” and at the same time it already has two difficulty modes. Most likely, this situation will continue by the time of release, and therefore “What Happened at the Dawn of Time” plays absolutely no role. As a consequence, if with “small” difficulty you can get from 5 to 9 lvl. in skills - it means this is normal and allowed by the developers. I understand perfectly well that creating levels (especially those so tightly tied to the plot) requires a lot of effort and time. I think any player who liked this game will vote with both hands for expanding the content and introducing additional locations (even in DLC) with an increase in “living space” by 3-5 times! But I also understand very well that creating such content is a lot of work. It is precisely for this reason that I suggested introducing “Random Events” or, if you prefer, “Programmatically Generated Content”. One of the reasons is the desire to prolong the pleasure of an interesting game. And additional pumping is a pleasant but not the main bonus. The game is frankly short and the developers themselves admit this. But what’s paradoxical is that at least some of the developers consider the transience of the game to be an advantage, not a disadvantage! This is strange and sad for me. I already realized that this project seems to have suffered stagnation and there is no real development to be expected. It's a pity! In connection with this regrettable conclusion, I will stop pestering the developers and the community with my “crazy” proposals. The game had huge potential, but they simply don’t want to realize it, which is a pity! Have a good game!
It's not because it's there that you have to be able to do it now. That's not a valid argument by any means.
No.
In the Age of Decadence, the studio's prior game, you could play an assassin, a thief or other backgrounds. Each background let you see the world events through different lenses. For instance, it all started with a merchant being murdered. You could be the guard who failed to protect him, the assassin who killed him, the thief who stole his stuff or the guy who paid for his murder. All of these led to different playthroughs as you discovered the same story from different perspectives, and later you could join different factions.
In CS, you can join different factions. If you want to experience the game if you go for the Church and then see what happens if you go with the Brotherhood, then also being able to focus on different skills makes for an even more varied experience.
I don't like warrior-cleric-thief-mage. I don't want classes. These are NOT choices most of the times. The interesting choices are faction choices, moral dilemmas, and combat vs. stealth vs. speech. If you can't see the difference with D&D classes, you can't understand why one would want one and not the other. The choices offered by Iron Tower lead to different stories, which, when all woven together, let you discover a whole world, including things you couldn't see in a single playthrough.
If you want to experience a story in a single playthrough, I would contend that a book is the superior choice.

Greetings! As I already wrote above, there will be no more offers for the game from me. But I can and will ask questions. As you can see from the screenshots I posted at the end of the “Factory”, I have skills from level 5 to 9. Yes, they were obtained on low difficulty, but they were obtained by game methods, and not drawn. For the sake of interest, after the release I will start a new walkthrough and in the first chapter I will focus on computers and hacking. I already managed to level them up to level 9 in the first chapter. But the question is different. Everything that happened before leaving the Factory location has little effect on further passage. And who’s stopping you from making a recording at this moment and trying all possible faction choices?! What do you think the skills should be for role-playing? Level 6 It's quite possible to do in any skill, and it's usually enough to pass story checks. So what's the question? My character is free to choose his course of action and can complete the game in any style! So why would I create three more (or more) attempts?

Greetings! It’s unfortunate, but lately all developers have been trying to drive the player into the “Procrustean bed of the scenario.” This game was no exception. After all, only by the will of the “all-powerful screenwriter” are we forced to make a choice in the Pit to receive a “sponsor” to enter the territory of the “Factory”. And actually why? We are not even told the amount they charge for the passage. Until you make a choice and shed a “sea of blood” - don’t you dare pass! After all, even initially everything revolves around the discovery made in the Armory. Everything else is “plot twists”. To be honest, for me the game would be ideal if it were possible to simply “live” on a ship without getting involved in conflicts and factions that are alien to me! But this is a pipe dream.

Greetings! If I needed the Sims world, I would play the Sims, but I am interested in the world of "Colony Ship A Post-Earth Role Playing Game" and accordingly I play this game. Have you played any part of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ? This is actually a shooter. There is a story and story missions. But any part of this game is a whole world. And you can “live” in it. Look for friends and make enemies. Change weapons and ammunition. Raise your rating and reputation among groups. This is quite an “alternative life”. It’s not for nothing that the game is still popular even though the first part was released in 2007. And it’s not for nothing that there is still a powerful community of mod makers for this game. I am silent about the army of fans. I really liked "Colony Ship A Post-Earth Role Playing Game" as a game and I would be very happy if it had the same fate as the game "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." - 16+ years of popularity, a regiment of modders and a division of fans. And most importantly, the realization of greater freedom of “life” in the game for players.
The whole point of the game is to make choices that will alter the fate of your character and the factions out there. Not to simulate a stranded settler life. The devs already have few resources as it is to try to do what they want to do. Asking the game to be something completely different is quite pointless.
The devs said why they don't want to add randomness, they also have an extremely tight and busy schedule. There's no way they can add what you're asking.
I don't want to play STALKER. Or anything like what you are describing. I don't want the devs to change the game into something like what you are asking. It is not what they have sold. If they did that (but as I said, they cannot given time constraints anyway), I would feel cheated.

Greetings! To be honest, I don’t understand you! Why are you obsessed with the release? I understand perfectly well that developers are limited in resources (especially time) and initially proposed to implement everything in DLC! At the moment I tried to play on high difficulty and what can I say - the battle is almost impossibly difficult. Fights turn into simply generating lucky hits/misses, and this is strange and, in my opinion, wrong. Even if you got decent armor, you can’t use it effectively (exorbitant fines), and you don’t feel any real protection from it! All this is strange and very dishonest towards the player (I deal less damage than the enemy with a similar weapon - how is that?). But the funniest thing is that I upgraded my computer/hacking/electronics without straining, almost the same as on low difficulty (up to level 7, 2/3 of the first chapter). I’m not advocating for “the game of my dreams”, but I have every right to express my wishes. If you are interested in playing a scripted game, albeit with three scripted paths for the development of the world, this is your choice and your right. The premise of the game is simply gorgeous, but the implementation is short and without free will. You are forced into choosing between the available forces and are not allowed not only to create something of your own, but even simply not to interfere in someone else’s war. I didn’t even attempt the plot decisions of the developers, but just wanted the opportunity to dive a little deeper into the world of the game and develop my hero. In fact, this is of no interest to anyone except me, which is a pity! Have a good game!
Also, jumping into underdog from hero understandably get your ass handed to you, at first.
The intended difficulty mode underdog has everyone playing by the same rules and does a much better job of putting you in your proper place: unless you have good grasp of the combat system and yr builds&tactics are solid you will get ruthlessly punished... any one playing on this difficulty knows/learns how reduce the RNG to the point where its almost not even a factor as most of use that have been re-playing the game for a while win almost any combat either on the first or the second try...
Further more devs have taken countless measures to minimize the rng factor over time biggest ones being: giving the ability to reach 100% accuracy(no arbitrary cap at 95% like it had in the past) adding items to let you reach 100%thermal vision and 100% resistance for blindness&toxicity while also having special grenades(flashbang/disruptor) that can eat away most of the enemy's evasion while stasis&pulse grenades make the very challenging combats much more manageable via removing a few enemys from combat for a few turns or nullifying the enemy crew's tech advantage...the when and how to best use these limited items is what separates the good players from the rest of the pack.
Either way what you are operating on is a skewed&distorted perspective of what the actual world you are living in is like...all you see around you are moronic push overs so no wonder you think you can/should be able take and hold a region for yrself with a 1-4 sized crew vs factions having hundreds/thousands of potential combatants to draw from OR think you can muscle yr way to the top of a faction you just joined and simply topple over those that have manged to stay in charge over there for decades by yourself.
Get a grip man what you are given on hero difficulty is like the promise of a boxing match vs Mike Tyson except no one told you Mike spent the entire night 'snorting fairy powder' and the bookies fixed the match by hiring smb to crack a baseball bat on hes kneecaps and then pretend to run away with hes wallet...
