How to help a downed ally?
Greetings fellow Colonists,

Been enjoying discovering this game on Early Access so far.
But, right now, I'm trying to help a downed ally before it's too late. I'm staying next to him (Evans in this case) and try to inject a healing serum, but it always says i'm too far, although I'm stepping right on him.

I guess I must not do what is intended. A little advice would make my day.

Thank you, and have a great day on the Colony Ship.

Ooh ! So no way to bypass the -1HP after that.
Ok, well thanks a lot.

Combat medic should be a feat to let you use a med pack on an ally in combat to heal them with a less penalty then stims or stabilize them when downed. off set with a high AP cost and cool down.

If anything it should require all the AP's of the 'medic' for that turn OR have a base cost of 20AP-biotech level(x2 perhaps) but yeah if its not too hard to implement it would be a nice combat feature to include...

I think 10 Ap and only once per combat per party member.

I love the idea for a combat medic feat.

Making the downed allies interactive can be quite messy, so even if we were to consider it an interesting idea it's unlikely we'd implement it.

Yea, it's super annoying. So you end up just having to use the games meta strategy since there is no tanking hits in the game. Especially the further in the ship you get.

By the way, the death feats were changed this update. Now they give -1 HP for every two fights in which a character is downed, but they also give +1 evasion, up to a maximum of -5 HP, +5 Evasion.

So even if your characters die 100 times, the worst that will happen is -5 HP/+5 Evasion, which is much more manageable.

Something to keep in mind and that we discussed quite a bit with the community that without any kind of penalty the meta strategy would become to "sacrifice" your party members in fights without much care. With this it creates a trade-off in which you are willing to pay with some HP beating a hard fight.

As Skaudus said, we tweaked it in this update to make it more of a trade-off, that's a bit slanted on the penalty side, but makes the PM slightly less likely to be hit (vs being full penalties as before).

I'm curious about something, what do you mean with "there is no tanking hits"? Thanks =)

i would still like to see combat medic as a play style, but i understand the limitations and the new update is a good compromise. Thank you!

Faythe becoming a medic after the death of her family would be so cool though.

tanking is something you have to build for from the ground up and will require armor and a good shield.

My current Jed is an amazing damage soak.

Oh yeah not only very possible but also very reliable&strong my MC is sporting no combat tags nor does he own armored warfare but when stacking hes medium armor with an energy shield he can sponge damage from entire squads for 2-3 turns with no issues...i would say without a doubt atm that in a party setting using heavy armor dmg sponge builds is much more reliable then high evasion dodge builds; this however changes for solo play where evasion can be stacked to the high heavens and is very efficient.

PS:just for reference this is my current MC(one more point in con this run that came from per(made for a rough start not gonna lie and is not smth ill repeat again) :
