Can't install motor implant

The demo is giving me an error saying I need to "analyze" the item before implanting. I purchased the motor implant that gives +1 Dexterity from the doctor, and then tried to install it in the machine next to her but it gave me this error. Is this a known bug? It's in my inventory but I can't use it, and I still have a lot of implant slots left.

Is it an implant or an upgrade (that requires the base implant to be already installed)? Can you post a screenshot showing this item's description?

right, it was an upgrade. there was nowhere i could get the base implant
