flashing cassette tape

There is a flashing cassette tape at the beginning of the game on a bench inside the ship. How do I pick it up or is there anything to do with it?

You just started playing. Ignore things you can't use yet and do something with them in your free play run.

This is probably the best advice. You'll drive yourself nuts trying to get stuff that you literally do no have access to until you finish your initial playthrough, simply because you won't have the characters/skills/powerups/etc to manipulate the bits that give them to you.
