X-Men and Fantastic 4

So just being clear on this, the X-Men and the Fantastic 4 are no where in this game? If not, I assume it's due to Marvel being bought by Disney and legal rights not being transferred or something

Yup. Nowhere to be seen. It might be too late for this game but Disney's trying to buy Fox so a lot of the licensing issues should be fixed

I may be wrong but as far as I know Fox only owns the movie rights to the X-Men and FF. There shouldn't have been any legal issues putting them in the game. They're probably absent cause Marvel doesn't want much attention being brought to them. I could be wrong though.

Well, a good amount of the areas are directly lifted or referenced from the movie/show properties. There might have been a conflict there. e.g. Xandar -> Guardians of the Galaxy, Wakanda -> Black Panther, Asgard -> Ragnarok, Sakaar -> Ragnarok, Hala -> Kree (and referenced directly) in Agents of SHIELD, K'un-Lun -> Iron Fist. The Hydra area could be compared to the Framework in AoS, but that'd be a small stretch (though Madame Hydra is Agents of SHIELD). There's a few others that can be connected via a tiny stretch like that too. Only one that feels completely independent is the Old West area (and of course Kang's Tower).
Well, that and the X-Men mansion is now basically the Avenger's mansion.

After Disney buys Fox so Marvel has Fantastic Four and X-Men back. TT Games will most likely do a free character or level pack focusing on putting Fantastic four and X-men in the game as selectable characters in free roam.

We can expect this because a year before the release of LEGO Avengers Marvel announced Spider-man is coming to the MCU and TT Games made one of the last DLC's for LEGO Avengers have a free Spiderman character pack which added him into the game as well as a couple of other fun spiderman characters.

I'm hoping they'll give the same treatment for LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 where TT Games will make a X-men and/or Fantastic Four character pack towards the last dlc's as an extra. It's easy to assume the fantastic four will just be the four characters plus doctor doom the villain maybe alternative versions. But if they bring back x-men we don't know who they'll bring back other than the most famous.
