Why would a LEGO game have "Broadband Internet connection" as a minimum requirement?
Arn't the LEGO games basically for single player/co-op play on a single PC? Any good reason for an Internet connection requiretn when the game is essentially a single player game?

Because you need steam to install the game. And to install games on steam you need internet

That isn't why the Lego game needs Internet access. You are talking about why the distribution platform needs Internet connectivity. Minimum requirements are a listing of what is required for the software to run. So why is a "Broadband Internet connection" required to play a single player game?

That's was decent attempt at explaining it but you'll find a lot of games that do not mention an Internet requirement.

There must be some service the game is trying to attach itself to.

All of the more recent lego games have ways to connect to the internet in game for news, updates and buying dlc for xbox.

Steam isn't Xbox but I feel that we are getting warmer.

All of the more recent lego games have ways to connect to the internet in game for news for pc but that is all I can think of besides lego world's servers.

There are also rumors of an online multiplayer for this game but I don't think anything has been confirmed.

If you're thinking that you'll need internet to play the game period, then you're not right.. so many games on Steam say "broadband internet connection" in the minimum requirements, yet do not need it.

The first 2 Lego Batman games didn't require an Internet Connection just to start their list.

Urgh. That annoying interstitial menu where it connects to the server for 'news' and then holds there, hanging on a failed connection for close to a minute before finally giving up...

I've played the more recent Lego games offline and never had that problem. It just always knew I was offline I guess.
