The Open World?

I'm not too far into the game yet, but less than a month ago, Playstation Access did a showcase of the open world, and it was all connected and blended together, so you could fly between the different sections. However, in the game right now, I have to go through these little portals to get from area to area, which is... bad. It completely shrinks the scale of the world and makes everything feel more cumbersome and dull.

Does the world open up properly later on?

It eventually gets to just how you saw it in the showcase. The video does no justice to the scale when you actually play it.
