Custom character gun problem

Hello! Can't seem to get guns to fire on my custom character or even name the darn thing, any ideas?

what exactly is happening when you try to fire your gun? does it still play the animation? or does the character simply do nothing at all? can you switch to another gun using character and fire as them?

just nailing down to see if this bug is exclusive to the custom character or if its effecting your entire roster. things to check is to validate your files on steam (right click the game in your library, click properties, go to the local files tab, click validate and wait for that to finish), that'll aquire any missing files and download them for you. another thing to try is walking through a loading screen, if it doesnt work doing that as the custom character try doing that as a normal character then switching to the custom character, this may give the game a chance to reload the world and underp whatevers happened

Jimmy woo fires his gun properly, when I switch to my custom character he just punches like he's not even aware guns can fire lol, switching between characters doesn't seem to do the trick unfortunately. I will try validating my files and give that a go.

Edit: After validating I still cannot fire a gun on a custom character OR a bow and arrow, although the animation holding the bow and arrow is different it's still just melee attacks.

At a guess, you have your primary attack ability set as 'fighting' and not 'bolts'.

Ah could it really be that simple? I don't have bolts unlocked yet, I figured a gun would just shoot haha!

I've fiddled around with the game and you do have to set the primary attack to bolts if you wish to use a gun or bow. The customiser is weird, but you can make your gun shoot with that. I had a custom character shoot arrows out of their gun and it was hilarious.

But how do i get my gun to shoot bullets (just like black widow, everett k. ross)? I dont want my gun to shoot arrows or lightnings

Old post, but I'd like to know more about this too.
I have noticed that the customizer is... wonky. You have to set things up in a very specific way for things to work, like needing to use bolts to have projectiles work (because in other LEGO games, giving a character a gun just makes them use the gun).

I'm also curious if there's a way to give your character an AoE slam attack instead of the single target style jumping attack. I'd like to do a slam like Doctor Strange, not a single strike like Iron Man does.
