You have to fill them with scrap and assign a button 1-4 on keyboard by looking at them in Hangar.You activate them on steering wheel. Also generally want 1 small pressure well per hammer to keep them running. Very useful in a fight.

remember to use pressure wells. autohammers take up a lot of pressure so use them in places where they have the best autohammer coverage, when youre holding a autohammer in the hanger it will highlight autohammered parts. remember to keep scrap near them and connect them to box balloons or engines, parts with many connections

no they repair up to four peices connected to it. if you have four hull peices and put an autohammer on the edge of it it will autohammer all four, if you add more connected around those peices around the side of that beam of hull peices it will get them all
