What is the point of a sock upgrade?

for fun, for achievement, for making good-looking sock... idk, mabye it's more powerful after upgrade, more effective.

Hmm thought it may be able to not get destroyed/used on certain occasional decisions/scavenging, but didn't work so far. Do you get a better emotional state maybe upon using it while crazy/not crazy instead of normal? Whenever I was able to upgrade it I never had the necessity to use it.

im not sure... what do any of the upgrades do?? I think the upgraded med gives a buff maybe it does something similar?

I just used an upgraded sock and I'm fairly sure it gave increased levels of mental stability. Given that it takes 2 days to make a sock, it's probably time efficient to upgrade it, so the next time that person loses sanity, they'll go back down to normal instead of insane.

Much lower chances of it being destroyed when used, so you won't need to craft as many. Slightly larger boost to mental health when used so you won't need to use it as often.
