You can "win" the game by finishing one of the story scenarios. There are 21 story endings and a gazillion different variations that tell the story of your crew's (often terrible) fate. There are also death endings, special endings - there is plenty to discover.

I can confirm that you can win the game and actually have at least the captain survive, which I finally managed to do.

There is if you play Emmet, everybody else just doesn't have a chance in the current build
