Suggestions for skills (Part 1?)
Note

This is my first time making a discussion forum, so please tell me if there are any ways to improve this, thank you! I will be making multiple of these, not just for skills (Abilities, weapons, etc), so they will be separate discussion forums and split into parts. I will limit each discussion for 8-10 suggestions at most, so I don't make the page too lengthy.

Special Skills

Skills are performed using combos with your directional keys, such as double tapping a direction then press DOWN to perform a blade dash. Currently, skills are very difficult to actually perform, though are very useful and powerful. In this section, I'd like to suggest some ways to make performing skills easier and some new ones as well.

Easier Skill Implementation

To make using skills easier, I'd suggest using a sort of 'slot' system. Essentially, you'll be able to equip 2-3 skills to use in a run from the Shady Pig (Or Weapon Merchant). Then, you could also bind your own keys to these skills to make using them easier, such as Z, X & C for each respective slot. That way, it doesn't interrupt the flow of combat by having to perform specific combos whilst in the middle of a heated fight and can instead be initiated with a simple press of a button. The slots could also be shown on the top-right hand corner, showing the keybinds below each slot as well as the current cooldown for each.

Players could be given four free skills when they begin the game, but must unlock the rest the same way as any other weapon.

New Skills Suggestion

Wing Glider: Allows you to use a wind glider mid-air to move whilst in the air faster, and get out of tough situations easily. You could also shoot during the use of this skill. Unlocked by being in the air for a total of 5 minutes.

Stomper: Allows you to use a radio to call in the Stomper boss, now piloted by the Shady Pig, to stomp through the arena, dealing immense damage and knockback. Unlocked by beating the Stomper Boss for the first time.

Pumpkin: Calls in the Pumpkin boss, dropping it from the middle of the arena, now piloted by the Shady pig. Remains in the center for a duration of 8 seconds, continuously firing explosive pumpkins from it's sides like the actual boss. Unlocked by beating the Pumpkin Boss for the first time.

Skeleton Army: Summons a small army of skeletons who rise up from the ground, and proceed to beat up enemies. The skeletons are very fragile however, and can easily die. Unlocked by completing the 'Defeat 100' achievement.

Thunderdash: After a 0.5 second delay, instantly teleports the user a very far distance forwards towards where they were facing, leaving behind a lightning effect from their start point (where they enabled the skill) to the end point (where they teleported/dashed to). Enemies in between these two points will be dealt 15-30 damage, depending on the 'value' of an enemy. Unlocked by dashing a total of 250 times.

Stone Barrier: Erects a stone barrier in front of the user, blocking off enemies from that direction. Has durability, and will shatter upon receiving 50 damage. The user may also use the skill again to make the barrier move towards where they were facing, instantly breaking the barrier but also damaging foes who are hit by it. Unlocked by dying a total of 24 times.

Invisiblity Cloak: Allows the user to become temporarily invisible for 8 seconds. Invisibility instantly wears off if the user attacks while invisible. Enemies will stop chasing the player, but will continue to move in one direction/roam around. Users can also freely move past enemies without bumping into them. Users also wear a mask of an enemy's face whilst invisible. Unlocked by performing a critical hit on an enemy's back (In case it wasn't clear enough, this is a reference to the Team Fortress 2 Spy class).

Closing Statement
That's it for this discussions page. I know this has been very lengthy, but I've had so many ideas whilst playing this game I just wanted to write down to suggest for this game. I love this game a lot and am trying to do a challenge where I beat all 3 of the main zones (Forest, Dungeon and Tundra) without taking any damage whatsoever. Thank you for reading, and have a nice day

Well, for the first time poster you're doing amazingly well and would be a valuable member of any game community. Glad you like Bacon May Die!

It's also scary how many of your points are matching with some of my plans, but I'm not gonna reveal which are those.

Now regarding, Z, X, C... I'm trying to keep that weird WASD-only control scheme, despite some players not liking it at all, and this might be the hill I'm gonna die on. However, I am planning to change the controls of existing skills to be more accessible. I think "hold S and press A/D" is simple enough and shouldn't interrupt the flow of the game.

The skills are going to have slots and likely a cooldown instead of using ammo. I'm not sure how many of them I will be able to implement, so they will probably be all locked at the beginning of the game (to teach players basics first) and open up after reaching a certain milestone.

Nice ideas for the skills too! I especially like the thunder dash and stone barrier. Boss-related stuff is also very interesting and I have a few ideas regarding those. Invisibility can't really work with current control scheme and there's so little room for it that it just wouldn't be useful.

Once again, thank you for the feedback! I'm currently working on skill-related content and might have something to show next week.
