Gamepad/Controller Update (ver 1.1.0 Beta)
Official gamepad support is here! The first beta for version 1.1 is now available in the "public_beta" branch and includes a completely re-built interface designed especially for playing with an XBox ,Steam, PS, or other compatible gamepad. On top of that, the new version includes dozens of gameplay updates and bug fixes including new shortcuts on multiple levels and updated camera controls.

We've still got a few things we want to add to this update, so the new version is currently only available by switching to the 'public beta' branch in the properties window in your game library. For those of you who want to try playing with a gamepad, make sure your controller configuration is set to 'generic gamepad' to get the best experience. This should be the new default, but if you were playing on a steam controller previously the game might still think its pretending to be a mouse.

One last note before the change log: because we may still be tweaking this version, we haven't translated the new gamepad interface yet. So if you're playing in a non-English mode, you will unfortunately be missing some of the hints for the gamepad controls. For example, in gamepad mode the new version will indicate when the 'A' button will move a character or the 'X' button will activate a handle. We will get these translated before the official release and we apologize for the inconvience.

  • New Gamepad Controls All-new interface designed for playing with a gamepad controller. The game will automatically switch input systems depending on the last device used.
  • Dozens of Level and Puzzle Updates New tram levers on level 4, new navigation routes on level 8, expanded background scenery on level 1, ...
  • Updated Character Buttons The character buttons in the bottom corners of the screen now indicate the status of the characters as well as allowing you to jump the camera to their position.
  • Camera Updates New camera scripting and support for panning when you move the mouse to the edge of the screen.
  • Updated depth-of-field effects tied to the camera zoom
  • Updated music and sound effects
  • The golem will now automatically use swing points when the girl is riding him in "monkey" form.
  • Disabled auto-navigation through portals. Doorways must be clicked on directly to have the girl enter them.

When this leaves beta, I assume it will hit GOG? Is there a beta branch on GOG I can access now?

It will definitely be on GOG when it's finished. Its not on the GOG beta right now, but I'll try to get it uploaded there in the next couple of days.
