Is easy. First, when you perform a tri attack or a hero attack, put the line very close to the target (bonus shots are for light targets) then while your character is running attack when you are close to the target (no jumps). 2nd, If you put the target in the air you will have a chance to get a Nonus shot, but if you dont get one while the target still in the air attack again as soon as posible. Every time you attack an enemy that is in the air the chance of bonus shot will increase, and doesnt matter if you fail the yellow zone if you still attacking the enemy the yellow zone will get bigger.
My recomendation: when you put the enemy in the air, press 'A' repatly, if you dont get the bonus shot in the firsts tries, still pressing 'A' until the yellow zone is big enough.
To perform a Bonus shot consistently you need weapons with high speed attack.
You bonus shot chance even stays across enemies, if for example an enemy is airborne and you switch targets and also make the other enemy airborne, you don't lose any of you bonus shot chance
In addition, when your charecters get high levels (80 or above), you will get alot of bonus shots on random battles in the map even if you dont want to get them. In my opinion, if is not for the combo achivement, bonus shots are almost totally useless.
