It is a Yes & No thing.
For the Online, this won't happen easily, the entire game never been built for local, and the only case it can go online party, if it really got that huge user base that can be a good support for such an indie production.
The lag was the main reason to not do online in the game. To have user satisfaction (even if few amount of users owning the game), and to focus in making it playable and fun.
For the AI, this was mentioned in the early access description, it is something that I would love to have, but not commitment in that. it depends on the time it needs VS the content the game have to get.
