Why mods dont work... ( Needed Help Ova' Here )
Well first of all I know that the cars are not going to spawn for sure... But they dont even show in the main menu showroom... Which displays the cars in the Cms2018_dataStreamingAssest/Cars folder... Now ive extracted the mods in the Cars Folder... Did i have done it right... Do i need to rename them cuz they have a strange name like 109487... Or do i need some " Mod Loading File " in the main folder like payday 2 does?
Or its the fact that they need certain dlcs for the parts or its bcuz i have the free Epic Game One? Pls i accept answers from experts only

After you've subscribed to a mod car in the work shop, it gets downloaded into the folder
...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\645630\
as you surely already know. You can move them into the standard cars-folder
...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Car Mechanic Simulator 2018\cms2018_Data\StreamingAssets\Cars\
But if you do that, you have to rename the folder of the car. Let's say, the folder is called
645214 (don't look it up, I just hit some random numbers)
and it's for the car "Best Car Ever". Now, in that folder you will find some files (duh :) ) and one of them could be called
car_bestcarEver.cms
You should mark the part between the underscore and the dot (bestcarEver) and rename the folder "645214" to "bestcarEver"
so now it looks like this
...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Car Mechanic Simulator 2018\cms2018_Data\StreamingAssets\Cars\bestcarEver

So make sure, that the folder has the same name, as the car_...cms file, without the "car_" and the ".cms" part.

Edit: Well, all of that definitely works, if you're on steam. I don't know about third-party-stuff! Nevermind, then

I just now read this... I don't know, if mods work at all, if you're not on steam. It might work, but I really don't know!

The mods should work as to your instructions however most mods require certian DLCs for engines and parts required for the mod other wise the mod will be very difficult to use and enjoy

Yes you do. Everything between the underscore and the dot.
For example: car_ferrari250gto-deadbob777.cms
would be
ferrari250gto-deadbob777

Not sure what part of their 'method' you find doesn't work. But, even if you don't have the game on Steam, you should still be able to find the appropriate folder to put the mods in and be sure the mods folder name matches the mod car name as suggested. It should then be in your game regardless of which platform you're using. The difference will be.....where....you get your mods from. Steam version can get them from steam workshop. Other versions may need to download them from the web. There's a website hosting most every mod available for this game--several that are not even on the workshop.

Well i meant the method from teddy lebt to change the name as the file in there like
Car_bestcarever.cms . The folder of that car would be called bestcarever

Okay, so mods don't work in the Epic Games version. Since it was free, I would see this as an opportunity to check, if the game is fun for you (I mean generally, not only @Xander007 specifically) and if you think you might enjoy it for more than 30 minutes, get the original on steam. Right now it's at a 75% discount! (offer will end on Juli, 7th 2022)
Take the Epic version as a free trial/ demo...

yes it is fun
Mardoin69 Jun 29, 2022 @ 11:46am
That's odd. I wonder why mods don't work with the Epic version. I might download it (since it's free) just to experiment with it to figure this out.

Btw Xander...this thread wasn't deleted.....just got moved to the appropriate Sub-Forum--'Modding.'
But, you can still delete it if you want. However, this has questions and answers others have been asking too.
