Templates for Liveries
Has anyone had the smarts and drive to make custom templates for Liveries? I'd love to add them on vehicles, but each template is so different for each car.

I have been weighing the idea of going through each car and placing words to label the area and markers to show the boundary points. The drive to do it is the big issue. It's not all that complicated but it will be time consuming.

Should be fairly easy for the devs to provide png's of the UV templates for the cars. Just a matter of if they have time I suspect.

If I could figure out how to get the models out of cms I'd be able to make templates in around a day

I have just about completed my first liverie... took some time and adjusting.

I have also noticed that the fuel cap cover is seperate from the main body... finding it wasn't hard but trying to match seams is almost impossable i had to just make it a single colour.

The templates are already available, look in the car folder for the liveries folder. Every car has a selection of liveries available.

Yes,true. But every game uses the same system to wrap the skin around a 3D object.

Not knowing where one part ends and the next one starts is brutal. It's basiclly just a guessing game right now. I actually gridded one of the liveries with thick colored lines to try to section it off. The lines run all over the car with no rhyme or reason. With that said, your car looks great.

That's how it works. if they tried to draw lines around each door, fender, etc.. those lines would then show up on the final paint job. That's why they use an alpha channel with no color then add in the templates. It's hard to explain but imagine if you cut a 3D ball down one side then flatten it out to accept the 2D .png. everything becomes distorted and only vaguely resembles a door, fender etc.. Check out DieselDesigns youtube channel and look at the nice job he did on his King Richard mod.

Guess I got spoiled to the templates in ATS. I started checking that vid the other night but I had to do something and cut it short. If he shows the decal process I'll definately give it a check.
