Winning auctions
So I have finally started going to auctions after restarting, and I don't remember them like this before. Before I got to 25, I could never seem to get a good deal on a car, and after rebuild, never make a profit. So after I got the average worth upgrade, I went to 5 auctions, doing all the cars on each of them. Even when I go over the average, the AI keeps bidding it up, and I haven't got a single car. The only car I have won was when I went ~15% over value.

So am I correct in assuming that auctions are only good for if you are seeking a certain car? There really doesn't seem to be any way to make money on them.

Auctions need to be redone. I did a test a little while ago. I went to the auction on a cheat profile (Milllions of $), and bid on every car there. They always went through the roof with prices. I then went to the auction again, and just watched the bidding. Every time the cars would go for way under value. Sometimes, I would pay more for a medium condition common car than the AI would end up paying for a perfect condition rare car. Auctions are broken, 100%

Yeah, if you bid, you can expect to pay more than it's value on 9 out of 10 auctions. On the other one, you probably only pay 97% of it's value. You can make money on the high value cars, but the low end ones will tend to cost you more than they are worth when repaired.
I wanted to buy the big ol' ford truck, value said 145,000. I bid up to 170k before finally stopping.
