Is there a point to going to barns?

I am only level 10 and I have 16K dollars. I can go to barns but I can't afford to buy the cars, even if I could I know I couldn't afford to restore them. I rummage for parts, take them back and try to repair them, some break, some repair, I sell them and usually end up about 100 bucks poorer. I don't think I am getting xp for this and I'm losing money. What is the point in barns? If I could afford to buy one of the wrecks, and restore it, would I make a lot of money or xp? Feels like I'm banging my head against the wall.

If you can't afford the cars, don't go yet.
You only get 1 barn per level. And they will despawn after you visit them.

Point of the barns is indeed a full restoration of the car.

What do you get from a full restoration? Lots of money? Lots of xp?

You get a lot of money if you sell restored cars.
xp is just like missions (the xp per part thing, not the 100 xp at the end)

sometimes barn cars have a very low odometer reading which increase the resale once restored

but if you don't have a lazy 100k spare in your pocket aviod going there they don't respawn once you visit them

But the junk yard does respawn and I can always do restoration jobs that way right?

Seems like it is not worth buying a barn car until I have level 30 or more, so I can repaint and repair it all up.

If you want 100% restoration that is correct (L30 unlocks the welder, everything else can be bought).

right. the barn cars are usually in better condition and mostly complete, so you don't have to buy a lot of extra parts, there are also a few cars that don't spawn in junkyard that you can get in barns (although i've never seen, 99% are just chapman and TBX). i prefer junkyard cars to barn finds in this respect. if we had 100% cars different barns and junkyard, then they might be a bit more interesting. Of course, at level 55, i never see any new barns any more -**boo**- (why haven't they fixed that yet?)

Cars found are low mileage compared to junkyard cars, and the parts in junk piles seem to usually be higher condition than junkyard too

barns would be more useful if they respawned randomly rather than being tied to level.

After reading everyone's post, I'm lvl 30 and only been in 3 or 4 barns. Waiting for more cars or dlc to make it better for me

a few mods cars are only in barns as well
