If you have input lag, try this
There is this input lag on cursor which is really annoying. I don't know why the developers ignore it. Probably because they are too deep in the code that they already use.

Before I thought the game would run in exclusive fullscreen mode when you select the fullscreen in the settings. But that's not the case. It's just borderless fullscreen which really doesn't give you the full performance of your GPU.

In Steam Library, right click to the game and go to Properties.
In General tab, add "-window-mode exclusive" (without the quotes) to the Launch Options which forces Unity (game engine) to go exclusive fullscreen. It's snappier for me. Try for yourself.

Also try turning off the V-SYNC from the settings.

I always had bad lag in 1440p. Tried this in 1440p, but didn't work. I've always to play in 1080p. Thank you, though. Was worth a shot!

I get screen-tearing without v-sync. I'm not doubting your suggestion at all, though. It's not that it doesn't work; it's that my PC can't handle 1440p with this game with Ambient Occlusion/SSR enabled. I can run a lot of games in 1440p with high/ultra settings (not all by any means, especially the newer games), but CMS 2018 isn't as well-optimized as a lot of other games.

I'm all about lighting in games, even if it's "faked" like AO. It just makes everything look richer to me. (Bloom and SSR is too much for me in this game, so they stay disabled.) So i thought I'd try your suggestion to see if it fixed the cursor lag. I'd still be okay with some frame drops. It didn't work, though, but it's not because of what you suggested. It's the combo of my aging hardware/game optimization. I thought it would be worth a shot to try it, just to eliminate the cursor lag in 1440p. No problems for me in 1080p.

All good! Still good info to have!

Yeah, not sure why but, this game seems to run quite a bit better in 1080p for some reason. I have my monitor set for 1600 x 900 so things are large enough for me to read. And, NORMALLY running apps at the same res as my monitor makes them work better. But, not in the case of this game. So, I run it at 1080p. Luckily, it doesn't make anything smaller so, I can still read everything. I haven't dug through their code to see what's going on 'under the hood.' My experience is it just runs better and must be better optimized for the 1080p res.

Well, if you ever get under the hood and figure it out, let us all know. I'd sure love to play in 1440p. It makes a huge difference on a 65" screen, hah.
