Well you'll get the general idea on how is everything is set together. names of parts. It's a chill game
Diagnose problems with a real car, no.
Learn the shape and maybe the location of key parts of a vehicle, maybe.
Think of this game as more of a 3D puzzle game where all the puzzles look like cars.
That said... I *REALLY* so like this series, and I've been a fan since the original 2014 version.
i DO know someone who after playing this game (and the 2015 incarnation), gained enough confidence to have a go at doing the brakes and an oil & filter service on their own car. they got a mechanic friend to supervise/assist but THEY did the majority of the work.
Although, you gotta admit, if it was a real simulator, we'd have a lot more mechanics around
And better music. This game's soundtrack is like having a garage in a freight elevator at the Ritz-Carlton. But hey: at least there isn't a Muzak version of "My Heart Will Go On" playing on a constant loop. That would be freight elevator to Hell version.
No electrical faults in the game
No wiring at all
No brake lines
No air con
You dont exactly repair engines just tear them apart and rebuild.
No diesel cars
No fluid leaks
No snapped parts or damaged parts just rust.
No tyre pressure or punctures just wear
No bulbs you just replace whole headlights
No computers or ECUs
No timing you can replace the belts but the timing is never adjusted
No fuel lines
No emissions
Also irl you cant become a ghost to get to parts, you also cant make parts hover in the air to allow you to bolt them down, this makes repairs much easier ingame than real life.
Its a pretty chill game but dont expect to learn much.
Theres more stuff I've not mentioned but I've spent too long already typing this
